Plex Crashing to Firestick Homescreen Durning Episode Selection of a Specific TV Show

Hello,

The Plex client on my Firestick is crashing during episode selection of a specific TV show. I can’t seem to replicate the issue with any other TV show. I have tried deleting the TV show at the system level as well as at the Plex level, emptying trash cleaning bundles, optimizing database, adding the show back, refreshing all metadata, analyzing libraries, unmatching and rematching the show, as well as deleting the TV Show, renaming all the files, and repeating all of the above steps.

Nothing seems to work, no matter what I do for this show it crashes as soon as I enter a season on plex and attempt to scroll through the episodes. It won’t even scroll to the immediate episode to the right or left, it just seems to hang briefly and then crashes back to the Firestick homescreen.

This show works fine on any other device (ie Roku, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iPhone), however on all 3 of my Firesticks this is a problem.

Edit: After some more testing it appears to be just 2 seasons of 1 show, the 3rd season works fine to scroll through episodes.

I’ve attached the server logs (with debug logging on) as well as the client log.

Yep. I have the same problem. any solutions yet?

Nothing yet. I’ve since moved the plex server to a synology nas DS920+ and the issue persists so I think that puts more blame on the firestick itself.

Do you also have a wierd issue where in a TV season you can’t access the menu buttons directly below the episode? The play, resume, and more buttons.

Having the same exact issue. Reverted to every version from 8.16 on and the issue remains. My friend has a brand new firestick and when I scroll through the tv shows that give me problems, it works flawlessly. Could be the fact that Plex is no longer compatible with these older Firesticks (shouldn’t be the case but I can’t think of any other reason). Hopefully we can find a resolution for this!

As a temporary workaround I just discovered that making a new manged user profile and logging in as that user resolves the issue. I can scroll through the episode selection without it crashing.

Perhaps there’s some corruption with our main profiles that needs to be cleaned up somehow.

Does anybody reading this know if it’s possible to completely remove all of a shows metadata on plex from a user profile? I’ve tried removing the show, cleaning bundles, etc… But it seems to keep some meta data.
