Plex creating folders in main directory

Server Version#: 4.73.3
Player Version#: 5.30.1 (Plex for LG webOS 3.9.0)

Plex keep creating these folders and they’ll eventually will be 100s, maybe even thousands of them.
Is there a way to have these creating in a child directory?

There will also be other folders similar to the pms- only with numbers, with a single poster in them. I delete about 500 of them, but Plex did not seem to need them. all folders retained the poster even after i deleted them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the ‘main directory’ that you describe? Where are these being created?

found.000 is typically found on NTFS filesystems. Is this a USB device?

What is configured in SettingsServerTranscoderTranscoder temporary directory?

Correct. This is a usb drive attached to a nighthawk x10.
Main directory is just top level directory on the drive.
Temporary transcoder directory is blank.
Should there be something?

Ahh! You posted this in server-mac. Is Plex running on the Netgear?

Yeah sorry. I couldn’t find the right tag. An mac is what I’m using to access the server. I should have been more clear.
So yes. Netgear Nighthawk x10 r9000

It sounds like Plex is using that as the temporary transcoder directory.

That may be the normal location for the Netgear version. It would make sense.

It should be safe to delete any pms-111111-… directories more than a day old.

Plex should be removing them automatically, too. I wonder if something is failing.

Are they cleaned up if you restart the Netgear?

Is a new directory created every time you play a show in Plex?

It may be necessary to post server logs and get somebody more knowledgeable to read them.

Is there a way to change that temporary directory?

I’ll do some test such as restarting and testing to see if shows create these folder. I delete a ton of them just a while back, but most of the were Movie posters.

If you share the server logs we can probably figure out what the paths on the Netgear are, and how to put them into a subdirectory.

There may be a bug of some sort. Plex uses these for transcoder tasks, and should be removing them after the task is complete.

Are they causing any problems, apart from the visual clutter?

I can do that. Where would I share them?

And I don’t think it is causing any other issues.

Here works fine!

How to gather them: server logs

You can just drag the .zip into a forum post and it will be uploaded.

Is it ok to share these logs here. there’s not private information in there?

There are IP addresses, usernames, and filenames, at least. It’s up to you, obviously.

If you get the attention of a Plex dev they may ask for them privately.

Thats what i thought. I think at this point i’m just going to delete the folders as i see them.
Maybe i’ll open i ticket with them some day or something.

Thanks for your help anyway.
