Plex Dashboard "Nothing is currently being played"

I have a plex server running on synology. We have a main account and a managed account - no remote users

I have noticed that the Dashboard does not identify media being played on the managed account when they are playing content that has been shared to the via “grant access” ie single items or playlists shared from the main account to the managed user.

It shows “Nothing is currently being played” despite knowing a film or show is being watched.

regular movies played via shared libraries to the managed user correctly show in the dashboard.

The console logs recognises the media being played, and the dashboard shows network traffic. It’s not a download, or a remote user. In the image, the bandwidth usage is definitely a single movie being watched from the main user shared to the managed user

Bug? or any fix ideas?

Server: MacOS 26.1 (25B78), Plex Version 1.42.2.10156

I’m having the same issue. The console is showing my brother watching a show but the “Now Playing“ is not showing any activity. I’ve restarted the server, optimized the database, cleaned the bundles but still nothing. I’m not sure if it’s related but It seems that my family can easily watch anything on their accounts but the encodes keeps crashing whenever I try to watch something, I’ve tried locally, Mac App, AppleTV, Samsung TV and the Safari on Mac and remotely using Safari on Mac. Same issues

I’ve noticed that the dashboard WILL show the shared media being played by the managed user, but only if it’s being transcoded.

This is happening to me as well, just noticed. I’m on debian. You can see in the logs where someone starts a stream, but the dashboard is empty.

This is also been happening to me for a bit, currently server is on v1.43.1.10540. I’ve also noticed that play progress no longer consistently saves.

I did run a DB check with the DBRepair tool, and it claims everything is fine.

I’m seeing this playing starting today while playing audio on my server, version 1.43.1.10561 on Linux Mint 21.3.

Was working as expected earlier today and oddly, is still scrobbling to Last.FM.

I realized that I am actually playing Plex via the WiiM app. When playing through PlexAmp or the web interface, it works as expected. I thought playing through WiiM worked before, but perhaps it did not.
