Plex Desktop Flatpak crashes on launch

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#: latest (I update every day, but I can’t launch to check)

This is what I get when I try to launch Plex from the terminal. From any shortcut it just dies quietly. Anyone know that is going on here?

$ flatpak run tv.plex.PlexDesktop

After the latest update I am getting less error but I am still getting the following and the app is not launching.

$ flatpak run tv.plex.PlexDesktop
F: Not sharing "/usr/share/themes" with sandbox: Path "/usr" is reserved by Flatpak
F: Not sharing "/usr/share/icons" with sandbox: Path "/usr" is reserved by Flatpak

Update: It seems to be running, just not in a way that is useful. I can see that there are plex processes running but there is no UI/program window.

Still doesn’t work. Installing a different distro so I wont be able to test any fixes. Not that any are coming or that anyone seems to care.

I care! as a fellow linux user I have to resort to a ■■■■■■ web browser to play 4k videos on my desktop. Where is the wayland support at plex? it’s been years now and I see these old threads about wayland, if there is some workaround that’s great, I don’t mind passing some extra arguments to a flatpak if that’s what I need to do. Have no clue how wayland support is a lagging feature at this point, it’s become the default for gnome now, I know linux is a small fraction of the clients, I don’t mind if some extra features lag behind on linux, but the whole app not working on a fresh install of most distros is pretty high priority IMO.

So I installed the fedora 39 based Nobara and it works now. So u guess it was either that specific distro or some combination of Ubuntu, gnome and my hardware. No idea.
I agree it is a sad state of affairs that Plex as a company seems to care more about making Plex into some weird social network, than making current features work across platforms. It’s not like Linux is even that obscure of a platform anymore with the advent of the steamdeck.
