Problem with Plex Desktop Flatpak on Fedora 40 - just started This afternoon

Server Version#: 1.40.2.8395
Player Version#: current flatpak version

Hi all,

Plex Desktop on Fedora 40 had been working great - even this morning it worked. This afternoon (even though I hadn’t run any system update or flatpak update - plex is insta-crashing on my Fedora 40 install. I uninstalled it and re-installed the flatpak with the same result.

My system is running an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840u w/ 780m integrated graphics, 32G ram.

here’s the error that I’m seeing in the plex log:

It appears to be something with my specific local user account (not my plex account) - I created a second account on my laptop and was able to launch plex. I’m not quite sure what files are causing grief at this moment…

Any tips on what to check next or what I should look into with regards to my main local account that could be triggering the crash? What’s weird is I was watching a couple movies this morning (well, technically listening to them while I was working) and exited plex just before lunch. Attempted to launch it a few hours later and it’s been crashing ever since. Nothing had changed between the morning and afternoon sessions. I did run updates after tho but nothing changed in terms of functionality.

Ps - yes, I posted to Reddit r/plex as well to see if anyone might have ideas there.

Resolved the issue - somehow the flag for Wayland on the flatpak got switched off. Using Flatseal I switched the Wayland windowing system switch back on. My only guess is there was an auto-update that occurred that somehow toggled that setting. I had to fix that setting for a couple other flatpaks as well.
