I did set up a filtered view on one of my libraries so that only movies with french subtitles are displayed. When external subtitles are added Plex do not detect them automatically, and neither if I trigger a manual “Scan Library Files” or “Analyze”. To get the subtitles detected I have to browse the movie page: a quick loading indicator appears on the poster, and the “SRT External” shows up under “Subtitles”. Only then, the filtered view displays the movie.
If it matters, the external subtitles are added in the same folder as the movie file. The naming convention is “movie file name + language code”, so for “Toto.mkv” it would be “Toto.fr.srt”. Subtitles are added through Bazarr,
“Run a partial scan when changes are detected” is enabled, and since I’m running PMS on the Shield and Bazarr on another device, I’m not sure I can write a script like this: Plex don't automatically pick up externally added subtitles - #17 by Dragonsider
