Plex does not detech TV Shows because of a NUMBER in filename

My file name is

GreysAnatomy.S03EP22 - The Other Side of This Life Part 1.mkv

And it is not added to Plex Media Server. I found this icon appears on Season 3 Episode 3 in the same show. I think it saids that there are duplicated files.

But after remove the number “1”, it can be detected by Plex Media Server
This is file name that is detected and the number in icon above decrease by 1 for each file renaming.

I do not want to delete the title of episodes from filename. How can I make Plex detect those filenames?

By the way, I just realize that not all file that has number included in name is not added.

This is the example of filename which is detected and added to Plex Media Server correctly.

I am pretty sure that I follow this guide correctly and use the season-based shows naming. The metadata for all files are included and the problem is the optional info parts. This doc said this part will be “ignored by Plex when matching content” but it affects content matching as I show you above.

I have change it as you adviced.

Then it is still not matched. And I try to delete “1” from the file name

its is not EP22 it is E22

you need to fix any files that have EP## and change to E##

Agreed with Juice, follow the naming rules. :slight_smile:

The reason “Part 1” was causing problems at the end of the filename is that “Part 1” has special meaning to Plex. See the “Split_Name” portion of the naming TV naming guide.

Yea - it’s all in that mysterious link to The Rules for File Naming and Structuring of TV Shows. It must have Covid 19 all over it 'cause it’s been avoided completely by millions…lol
