Plex does not see my PMS on Synology NAS DSM 6.2.4

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309-f5213a238
My media collection is no longer visible in Plex.
Even after upgrading Plex I am unable to add media within Plex running on Synology DS414 NAS (DSM 6.2.4).
When I go to “Your Media” I just get option to “Get Plex Media Server”
Nothing else works.
My menu options are just ‘Home’, ‘Music’, ‘Your Media’

What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

Try the easiest method:

  1. Sign out of Plex/web (upper right corner)
  2. Close all browser windows
  3. Open the browser fresh
  4. Before doing anything, Open an Incognito window
  5. Assuming you and it are on the same LAN subnet, in the incognito window, open http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web

It will want you to sign in.

It may want “Got It” and a few other things but take you to the dashboard.

You’ll see Claiming (settings - General) in several places. Claim it and give it a moment to complete.

Click around to make sure you’re there.

Darn. Now we have to get a little more drastic.

  1. Make certain you have the “Text Editor” app installed from Package Center

  2. Stop Plex

  3. Navigate “Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server”

  4. Right-click “Preferences.xml” → Open with Text Editor

  5. The app opens and you see a whole bunch of `Name=“SomeValue” fields.

  6. Find and VERY CAREFULLY remove the entire Name="Value" fields for:
    – PlexOnlineUsername
    – PlexOnlineMail
    – PlexOnlineToken
    – PlexOnlineHome (if this exists – it’s optional)

  7. Save the file

  8. Start Plex

  9. Now full cycle the browser and open an incognito window when it opens.

  10. Open the http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web

Now it won’t know who you are / it’s yours. You’ll be almost like a fresh setup but not quite. All your data is still there. Only the ownership info was removed.

When you claim it, like always, it will sit there for a bit while all the handshakes back and forth occur.

The steps provided did not work. I had to delete everything in the shared plex folder. Uninstall PMS and then reinstall.
Lost all settings but its working like expected now.
