Plex doesn’t open, just splash screen on smart tv

Every time I start plex I get the plex start-up screen but it doesn’t open the app. I need to hit the back button on the remote several times to get the main screen up.

I only see entries in the two logs below.

The error for metadata type: folder I think relates to “folder.jpg”. I have Emby also which can use this type for the thumbnail. These have been in place for many years without issue. It is only recently that I have this problem so not likely to be related.

Got the same problem… My workaround: Doublepressing the “back” button on the tv-remote and give it 5 more seconds.

Yes it is a minor issue easily overcome.

Plex is f*cked up on 2016 TV anyway. Subtitles dont work properly, new episodes are not always showing withing serie pages … just change device
