Plex can’t even give us basic features that any media player should have and there’s no excuse on their part whatsoever other than their lazy latest Don’t Care about us I’m still using it but I’m pissed Samsung their TVs are newest ones have the best Plex app but no nobody else gets it because that would make too much sense on plexus part.
all you want in the Nvidia shield and all the other stuff too or to see the actors in the movies and be able to research actors have letters down the side to search faster also make it were videos that are shot and other formats can at least be stretched I mean who cares if the people that were the qualities good then your TV sucks cuz I have my other media player that did it fine add these features come on
I’m not clear, but I guess you are talking about the new v2 app for Smart TVs. The LG TVs were actually first to get this. We recently released it to Samsung. We will release it to other TVs in the future after we are done testing. The latest app may not run on older TVs with older OS’es. LG is still updating their WebOS and Samsung updates their Tizen OS. The app needs to be optimized for each platform otherwise they could likely crash and burn.
But I want it on the Nvidia shield you know what that is I just bought 12 them for family members were all doing it now and they’re all going to put money down on the flats soon as they need actors

Yep I love the new UI of the Samsung one word shows the actors almost just like the web interface on the computer where you see the pictures of the actor and you select the actor and it will show all the movies you have with that actor also when you go searching for you know when you change your search genre to actors it has letters down by the sides of the actors so you don’t have to scroll down until you find the actors you can just go right to the letter that the actor’s name starts with that would be a freaking amazing if I got this that’s all we want and one more thing but this is more important
also having it where doesn’t have the black bars on the sides only top and bottom on the Western digital TV live movies that that have black bars you can set it to normal mode and HD videos will still be in the regular bottom black bar top black bar but the other movies will be stretched across the screen and it looks good still no problems and quality whatsoever cuz some of my 1080p videos are that format and now I have to watch it with black bars on left and right but the actors thing is more important
don’t get me wrong I love Plex and I love the idea that works great all I want is something so simple that it should have I mean actors you want to know what movie you’re watching and what actors are in that movie and be able to search for movies with your favorite actor as soon as I get this I will be signing up for the lifetime and so everybody else in my family
If you are seeing bard on the sides and the top and bottom, that usually means that those bars are encoded directly into the video. Plex does not remove these. We show the video as it is stored. My suggestion would be to re-rip these movies and make sure the bars are cropped out. I had a WD Live before. I don’t remember it removing these bars either.
also the reason is because I heard it’s been two years and they still don’t have actors that’s why I’m worried about I won’t be another 10 or 5 years before they think it’s important
The Android app doesn’t have a way to change the image. It just shows it the way it is in the file. There have been request to add this ability. We are working on some player improvements so maybe this is something that can be done with that work.
Like I said, the request to include actors has not had a lot of interest. We do have plans to eventually have all the apps act and look similar this will be added at some point.
so that new UI that Samsung just got that’s freaking awesome that I love and if we also we happy with we will get that eventually soon to on the Nvidia shield.
I’m a tech guy the only problem is all the Samsung 4K TVs don’t pass audio through HDMI you have to use toslink and toslink is sucks compared to HDMI and audio quality everybody in the industry knows that if you know what you’re talkin about and high-end entertainment centers
So basically you can’t transmit apps from your TV to your receiver it won’t work plus all smart TVs are stupid anyways they lose support after while my friend has an older Samsung smart TV and they don’t even get any updates anymore for the apps or anything or Netflix that’s why I went with Nvidia shield it runs full Android so as long as Android itself is in business now I’m good and it will always be in business so I’m good
