after downloading plex, it shows up in the start button list of installed apps. however when i click on it to launch, nothing happens. i start the task manager and it tells me that there are no apps running. is there a setting i need to change?
look at the lower right of your screen, next to the clock, do you see the plex icon anywhere? If not, click the little white up arrow, do you see it in that menu? If so, double click it, it should open a web browser, or, you can simply open a web browser and go to either

Was Plex server installed on this machine before?
Did you move the Plex data folder away from the default location?
i have the same issue & its not showing up in the menu on the bottom right . I had it working on my computer but it would not update my library so i removed & install the media server again .Now it wont launch at all?
When you reinstalled did you install “Plex” or “Plex Media Server” the download page from www.plex.tv defaults to “Plex” which is a playback client, you need to select the “Media Server” option at the top to get the Media Server. I know it sounds like a dumb question, but double check, cause that’s caught a lot of people off guard.
