Yesterday I have been busy (reinstalling) Plex. The media server runs on an NVIDIA Shield and there is a WD_MyCloud external (network-)drive attached to it, and another external drive (WD MyBook) attached to that external drive. Both were recognized so I could just create the libraries.
Today, however, Plex doesn’t recognizes the MyBook external disk anymore. If I want to play something from it, I get the error:
Playback Error - Check if the file exists and the necessary drives are connected.
However, I can access both the hard drive from my Desktop so there is nothing wrong with that. The only thing that strikes me is that the MyBook in Plex is listed as:
/ storage / WDMYCLOUD / My_Book_25EE-1 /
And under that name I can also access it from my Dekstop PC. But when I log in to MyCloud it says that the disk has the name My_Book_25EE without the “-1”.
Could that be the problem and if so how do I get it working again so Plex can find my MyBook again?
Yes I have created a drive-letter for the drive, and it has worked before in te past (when I had a different Plex-account, but I had to create a new one unfortunately). And yesterday PLEX saw both the external disks and I could create libraries from both.
The external disk which is directly connected to the Shield is a WD MyCloud (so a network disk). And the disk (which is not recognized anymore) is a WD MyBook (normal external disk).
This is what it looks like in PLEX (so with the -1 on the end)
This is what it looks like in the Western Digital Dashboard (so at one point is shows 25EE and somewhere else it’s : 25EE-1). The “PUBLIC” with the green stripe is the name of the WD MyCloud.
