New Plex Media Server installation - not seeing media on my external HDD on Nvidia Shield TV Pro

I recently ripped all my movies to a Western Digital Elements 14 TB external drive and bought an Nvidia Shield TV Pro to operate as my Plex Media Server. But my movies are not showing up in the library of Plex. Even if I manually tell it to scan, no media is detected. I’ve been working on this for a day and a half and can’t seem to figure out the problem.

What I can confirm so far:

  • In the Nvidia Shield TV Pro, it sees all 14TB of the external hard drive.
  • In the Plex Settings, under the section for PMS, I’ve designated the WD Elements drive as my storage location as opposed to the internal memory of the Nvidia TV Shield Pro
  • Software for the Nvidia Shield TV Pro is the latest version - Hotfix #3 (33.1.0.274) released on January 28th
  • I have my media on the external HDD in the directories /media/movies and /media/tv as Plex suggests
  • File naming is as Plex suggests “movietitle (year).mp4”
  • When I look at the libraries created during setup, and I edit the Movies library, the folder listed is /storage/emulated/0/Movies

Possible issues?

  1. Does Plex have an issue with a 14TB HDD?
  2. Is that folder listed under the movies library (/storage/emulated/0/Movies) the proper location?
  3. Hotfix #3 (33.1.0.274) was installed on the Nvidia Shield TV Pro because of a known issue during Plex Media Server setup - the setup hangs indefinitely and never advances. This update fixed the issue, but maybe creates this problem with not detecting media and populating the Library?

Any help would be appreciated. I’m a bit at my wit’s end.

When my shield updated recently Plex died. I can’t get it to work anymore.

That’s not the correct place.

I finally figured it out and it was relatively simple, if not obvious. When I would create a library, I wasn’t pointing to the hdd. In my defense, it wasn’t obvious that it was a drive.

It’s the second entry in the photo, the long number of /90847…

Doh!
