Plex doesn't work on a Mac?

I signed up for Plex - as a Mac user - some time ago but abandoned it as it appeared not to work with Macs.

I kept my monthly account going for a while in the hope that the situation would improve but - on checking today - I can see that is not the case.

I have downloaded the Plex Media Server 8 times and tried to install it on my Mac but - though the app is downloaded and launched - it never works so I have never been able to access any of my own media.

I had heard good things about Plex but I think it is for Windows users only.

Closing the account for good now.

Disappointing.

No, it’s worked just fine on my Mac—until this last update, which has broken everything completely. In fact, it sounds like what you’re describing. The app launches, and shows in Activity Monitor, but nothing else happens. If I pull the web app up in my browser history, it can’t see anything.

No idea what’s broken, but I hope it’s fixed soon.

was working fine on my mac untill update now it wont even open

Your database might be corrupt. It can cause it not to start. You can try to repair the database or restore a database backup

It works just fine. I’ve been using it for years from a Windows machine, then hackintosh, and recently a Mac Mini M1. Very rarely do I have issues, but when I do it’s always an easy fix.

You have something weird going on.

Did you have this installed on a different system? Delete all the plex media server files on the mac, then start again. Also make sure you allow it to open in the the Security Menu under Settings, otherwise it won’t go anywhere. This would be true with any software you install that’s not on the Mac App Store.
