Plex DVR lost episode after I messed with it

Short version - Audio sync problem was created when removing ads. I edited to correct. Now Plex cannot find episode in scans, but it shows up in Folder view.

Longer version – To start with, in case it’s relevant, my DVR drive was filling up, so I moved a few shows to another drive and added them to the Plex library and fixed permissions and ownership. Things play from there.

Recently watching show from this moved folder (Deep Space 9 S01e03) and noticed an audio sync issue. Couldn’t fix it. Tried lots of things before I realized it was in the file and was out of sync in VLC as well.

DS9.ts file wouldn’t open in Reaper, so I used Handbrake to convert to m4v. Used Reaper to realign audio after offending ad break and rendered to mp4. Plays fine in VLC. Moved to original folder and changed permissions and ownership. File name matches old file except for extension.

Rescan in Plex - Season one lists e01, e02, e04… Switch to folder view. Episode is there and plays, but is identified as a different show (Start Trek Next Generation and plays a next generation episode.

Moved different files around trying to make it work. No luck. Did the Plex dance a few times.
Finally moved the original .ts file back to where it started and rescanned. Not going back to working with the unedited version.

Now when I play it from the folder view, it is playing some other show I apparently recorded different time, and channel), and it take a very long time to start playing. In the playback window, when I click on “more actions” it shows under media info paths to 4 different Star Trek shows, all season 1, episode 4 followed by media info for each of them. When I click on “playback settings” is says it is converting automatically to 10000 Mbps which seems high.

Unless you’ve got a better plan, I’m going to delete the offending episode and wait for it to come back around on the syndication broadcast. But I would like to figure out what’s going on and what I did wrong.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Ok. It’s getting worse. Since my first post, I have renumbered a few of the episodes that were named incorrectly when recorded, and now the entire first season has disappeared. It does not scan. The folder shows up in folder view and plays. But I notice there are some other folders named “Season 01”, “Season 02”, and “Season 05” With seemingly random other shows in it. These folders do not exist outside of plex.

I’ve done the plex dance. It appears that the permissions and ownership match the folders that work. But doesn’t scan.

Can I just tell it to rebuild the database from scratch? What will I lose?

Thanks,
Mike

Ok. I figured one thing out. The extra folders that turned up are new episodes being recorded in the old location from before I moved the files to a new drive.

I’ve also run the ChuckPA/PlexDBRepair from guithub. And ran updates and rebooted. But Season one still won’t scan back into Plex.
