I have 2 Primes … the first Prime was using Plex DVR to record 2 shows… the third tuner on the Prime was being used for livetv using HDHRDVR … that left 1 Prime available with 3 tuners … but the Plex DVR insisted on trying to use the tuner that was being used by the HDHR DVR and it kept failing… why doesn’t the Plex DVR check to see if a tuner is in use before trying to use it and move on to another Prime if it is not being used ?
If this is the way it is going to work it is a deal breaker for me as I need to be able to use the HDHRDVR for DRM channels. Every other DVR app I have tested checks for tuner usage before attempting to use the tuner.
Plex assumes that it has exclusive use of any tuners you configure in the DVR. If it is unable to use a tuner for a recording the recording will fail. Perhaps only have one of the Primes assigned to Plex and the other for the other DVR software.
That is not why I invested in the 2 Primes. That would limit me to 3 recordings using the primes if I allocate them the way you say … I will pass on the Plex DVR and look for other options. The Primes are meant to be shared and I want to use them that way. … It is a shame that this is the only DVR that I have tested that does not share the HDHomeruns properly.
I would expect this is not the way it is going to work. PLEX DVR is in its infancy.
