NCIS over TBBT? Did you look at the images I uploaded? I’m talking about COPS and Wheel of Fortune. There is something wrong with Plex, it’s not something I’m doing wrong.
@zildjiany that was an example. Quite honestly from your images not much could be discerned which is why the last statement “Sounds like you will need to review the Plex logs to determine why a show in the Recording Priority list is not recording.” was included. The logs will give some indication as to why the show is not recording. From your images I see nothing that shows anything is “wrong” with Plex. Plex will always show the recording image in the guide for a show that has a recording scheduled. This is not an indication that a particular show will actually record, just that a recording for the show/series is already scheduled. This is so that when you are looking at the guide you know that you already have a recording setup. Imagine the guide without the icon to show the recording is setup. How freaked out would you be if you saw no recording icon for a show you wanted recorded? With the record icon showing you can visually see that it is already setup to record. Again, the logs will show why a recording was not scheduled, you just have to search through them. If you don’t want to then you can always post the zip file of the logs here and someone can take a look. Settings / Server / Help - click the download logs link. Please ensure Debug logging is enable, verbose logging is disabled, and the option to show Plex token is also disabled.
Thanks - I just went ahead uninstalled Plex, deleted the AppData folder, reinstalled, and it let me schedule COPS without a problem. On both the guide and the Recording Priority it shows scheduled. What “freaks me out” is that the icon shows up as scheduled to record but the recording priority showed “no upcoming airings”. Those 2 things conflict greatly. The guide should absolutely 100% correspond with the Recording Schedule/ Priority Lists… This is a Plex bug that needs to be addressed, not a user error.
I can’t provide a log now since I’ve rebuilt from scratch. It’s my opinion Plex never even tried to record COPS because it wasn’t scheduled and said there were no upcoming airings. So I don’t think a log would do any good since I don’t see there being a failure entry.
Glad you resolved the issue but you should not have had to wipe out your existing Plex environment. We also can’t tell why Plex wasn’t recording COPS since the logs are now gone. Examining the logs could have shown why it was not recording.
Just to followup on the whole guide showing a recording. Below is a screenshot of my Guide showing Big Bang Theory with the recording scheduled. Below the first image is a screenshot of the Recording Priority showing there are no upcoming airings. I am not worried about the show not being setup because the guide shows me a recording is scheduled for the show. The three dots or circles in the recording icon show a Series recording. A single dot would indicate a single episode recording.
Since the Recording Priority is not showing any upcoming episodes to be recorded I need to check the logs to see why the show displayed in the Guide is not going to record. Below is a snip from the logs showing that all upcoming episodes will not be recorded because each episode is already found in the Plex Library.

Well sir, I stand corrected. It looks to me like the seasons I do have recorded of COPS are getting ready to air again hence not recording. My apologies for coming across with so much bravado. This would also explain Wheel of Fortune because they aren’t airing new episodes right now. I got confused there because changing the setting from New to New and Repeat didn’t instantly update the Recording Priorities list. Anyway - my problem is solved, thank you kindly.
sa2000… unless i am mistaken, this behavior continues. i see tuners tied up for recordings they will not keep due to settings on favorites… was this added to a backlog?
Unfortunately I’m still struggling with issues of recordings being garbage collected.

Does anyone know what ‘policy 1’ is ?
Is this implying that because I watched the episode over a year ago (2018-01-01) and deleted it there is no way for me to record it again?
Is there a way to clear this information without resetting the entire database?
And my settings in the Library and DVR are to record all episodes
