Plex DVR Setup fails

Evening everyone…

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the Plex DVR setup completed. It errors every time during the DVR Setup phase:

“We’re finding the best program guide for your channels and location.
This should only take a few moments.”

This step NEVER completes, allows me to continue, cancel, or go to the previous step.

The percentage is different depending on the zip code I input into the system. Sometimes stalling at 85%, sometimes at 40%, but never completing.

PMS DVR Build on Linux.

The service provider I am trying to set up is AFN. Yes, not an actual cable provider, but AFN. I thought it may be because the channels found by the HDHR4 are not your typical channel sequence, but they start with 5000 and work up to 5023.

Thoughts? Guidance?

AFN is Armed Forced Network, correct?
And you receive this provider with an Antenna/decoder combination connected to your HDHomerun Connect?

@hthighway , correct, Armed Forces Network. As for receiving the signal, not exactly.

On the installation, they provide AFN via cable, without a decoder. You can subscribe for a monthly fee to an external vendor’s services (who also provides the maintenance and backbone for the cable network) that will give you many more channels than just AFN. I’m not worried about those, as they are encrypted smartcard with decoder box. There are roughly 25 unencrypted CLEARQAM channels, roughly half of them audio-only music stations. They’re all digital broadcast channels, and I believe there are 4~5 muxes for the channels that are unencrypted.

For some reason, HDHR detects these channels starting at 5000, and increasing. Other software like WinTV, MythTV, tvheadend, and other software I’ve played with (not with the HDHR) detect the channels at the station’s channel number and report it as such.

Bueller?

Currently using TVHeadend with the TVHeadend app in order to get LiveTV, but haven’t messed with the PVR capabilities of it, yet. I’d really like to have the Plex DVR functioning. HDHR’s channels are perplexing me though. I know that 44-105 for instance is the news channel, but the HDHR reports it as channel 5017, and I’m at a loss trying to get Plex DVR Beta to translate a 5xxx channel into a usable channel…

Hmm, interesting. Can you possible post the log snippet from the setup, as well as the output form hitting /lineup.json on your device?

Hi,

I am having the exact same issue using PMS DVR Build on MacOS.

Am using it with HDHR3-CC with Verizon FiOS.

Strangely enough I can reproduce the error where different settings for zip code lead to different %-complete levels for the guide lookup and then hang.

Happy to submit logs and such but don’t necessarily know where they are kept. Guidance appreciated.

Thanks.

Update to previous post. I updated to DVR Beta 2 and it looks good right now!!

updating guid data.

thanks a bunch guys!! i’ve been plexpass member for years now and it’s been worth every minute.

Dang I didn’t realize there was a beta 2 out. Going to update to that now, as DVR Beta 1 also causes “Plex Indirect” errors, as my PMS has never had this issue before. Can only tie it to the Beta release.

So the plex indirect issue was resolved, however I still have DVR setup issues. Rather than create a new topic since it’s beta release 2, I’m going to continue here.

Where should I find the logs (linux x64) for the DVR portion, specifically?

EDIT 2: Plex Indirect issue still plagues me. Prior to install of DVR Beta releases, this was non-issue. PFSense rules are correct and I have not changed them; DNS settings and DNS Resolver are also correct.

Bumpeth…

Same problem here with an Digital Devices Octopus Net SAT>IP tuner and Plex server running on Synology NAS. Fix / help is highly appreciated!

Additionally there does not seem to be a beta available for Synology NAS unfortunately.
