DVR Setup stuck at 0%? I cannot watch Live TV or set it up either.

Hello, I recently got a HDHomerun Quattro and I found 16 channels. When I try to setup Live TV and DVR in Plex, it sees everything and works up until I have to input my postal code. When I input my postal code, the circle goes to 30-80%, then goes back to 0% and stays there. I cannot get past this screen to try out Live TV. Any suggestions?

I am able to watch Live TV fine on the HDHomeRun App and it shows the 16 channels. So it’s not the HDHomerun or lack of cable.

Thank you so much for your help!!

This is where I start having problems:

It goes to a random percentage really fast:
/uploads/default/original/3X/8/d/8dfd3cd9f5f954d6cad5da96da2ed2b501036f6c.png

Then goes back down to 0% and stays there:

Hi

Would like to see logs with debug logging enabled for this - captured at the time when the EPG refresh hangs to go with screenshots

You can send me a private message giving the post code that you entered for the DVR setup
But will need logs to go with corresponding screenshots

Have you allowed time - in case it is slow fetching the EPG?

See
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Once you have debug logging enabled - restart the server to get fresh logs
Then reproduce the problem, taking screenshots
and then download the logs and attach

Hi,
I have a similar problem.
When i try to install a dvr and i go to best program guide it is still always 0%.
I have try to wait for 2 hours but always 0%.

Hi @sa2000

Thank you so much for your help!

I will PM you my postal code and also the logs from my server.

Here are some more screenshots as well:

This is it correctly identifying my HDHomerun Quattro and correctly scanning and finding channels (it sometimes only finds 15 channels instead of 16):
/uploads/default/original/3X/0/a/0a01a39605693855139c21f04b80b3db4d49eb5f.png

Then it finds the channels and I press continue to get to this screen:
/uploads/default/original/3X/7/4/74c74bb093974ef909ac645dd64cb931f8fadd5d.png

After I put in my postal code and press continue it does what the screenshots in my previous post show, where it will load up to a random percentage, sometimes 87%, sometimes 53%, sometimes 25%, and then it goes all the way back to 0% and stays there. As if it is blocked or stopped or hits a snag or something.

I have waited for it to work for about an hour at most and then canceled and retried it multiple times waiting different spans of time and also trying out different zip codes close to me. I have also tried to run Plex as an administrator but nothing changes. I’ve restarted Plex and also restarted my computer. And I have turned on and off debug logging with no change in behavior.

Also I’m running Plex Version 1.12.3.4973

Thank you for your help!

Thanks - will have to wait until you are in a position to provide logs when this happens and it gets stuck

If you are going to do that - enable debug logging on the server, restart the server to get fresh logs created and then try to reproduce the problem and when it hangs get screenshot and download logs and attach the zipped logs here with the screenshot and indicating when it hung on the refresh

Got the logs

The percentages are for different stages of the setup

For example channel scan on 23rd April starting at 00:12:33 am reached 88% at 00:13:00 am and completed (without displaying 100% - because the percentages are not displayed for every 1% increase) at 00:13:00 am

What followed was activity to determine what is referred to as the best lineup and that started at 00:13:23 am and reached 100% at 00:13:24 am

What followed is you changing the post code and a new best lineup determined at 00:14:02

I cannot see you proceeding into the Program Guide setup

When entering postal code and selecting continue, at the end of the search you would get a set of channels from which you select in the tick boxes. There is no evidence that you hit continue after this and I cannot see any EPG setup.

when taking screenshots of any issue like some action is stuck please make sure the time is visible so can be looked up in the provided logs. If time is not visible then please indicate exactly what time that was

Hello,

Thank you so much for your help!

That is exactly what is happening. But in the UI, it never shows 100% and it never allows me the ability to progress into the Program Guide Setup. It goes all the way to a percentage, then goes back down to 0% and stays there with no way to continue or proceed. The only thing I can do is cancel and try again, which you saw in the logs at 00:14:02 where I changed the post code in an attempt to try again.

So the logs are showing that the lineup started and finished and the channel scan completed, which is weird because there is no change in the UI to allow me to continue to the program guide setup, regardless of how long I’ve waited.

I can upload new screenshots again with the timestamp with new logs if needed as well btw.

Thank you for your help!

Yes please - new screenshots with time showing and logs - but start a fresh after relaunch of Plex Media Server so we get new logs

With the first postal code, the channel scan did get to 88% - but we are not incrementing % by 1 percent at a time

/uploads/default/original/3X/c/2/c299adb39c32d795c534005e9746dd03108d8c23.jpg
This time it only found 13 channels as opposed to the 15 or 16 that it had found yesterday.

/uploads/default/original/3X/8/9/89b5cbc362495e878a9d817b59180e095b212036.jpg

/uploads/default/original/3X/f/6/f64b70fbf60541c06cbf6e927de43b108e2fe101.jpg
It would go up a percentage like this, then go all the way back to 0% and stay there. This is the step where I was getting stuck on and nothing was happening. The circle would progress up to a random percentage and then go back down to 0% and stay there and never progress to the next screen below.

/uploads/default/original/3X/3/7/375721df5bf69808ad5dfcd0d3551926022710b5.jpg
I have never seen this screen before. Plex would never progress to this screen even though it looks like the logs showed it as progressing to 100% and getting the EPG.

/uploads/default/original/3X/9/a/9a6698abf830a85b747bce5141a3fc334db06948.jpg
I also never saw this screen before. It progressed normally.

/uploads/default/original/3X/1/3/13a37e9980b36ab597006e448ed3c63dc7b15c95.jpg
And it completed fine.

This time it actually worked! I’m not sure why. But it progressed passed the screen it kept hanging on. I think maybe because I had fewer channels that were found when it scanned? Perhaps some of the channels my antenna were finding were messing with the program guide? This time I only found 13 channels OTA instead of 15 or 16, that is the only thing that has changed in my configuration.

I will upload and send you my new logs for this occurrence. Maybe something can be found out comparing the logs I sent you before and these ones?

This all looks perfect and as it should be

The varying number of channels found is just signal issues

It would go up a percentage like this, then go all the way back to 0% and stay there. This is the step where I was getting stuck on and nothing was happening. The circle would progress up to a random percentage and then go back down to 0% and stay there and never progress to the next screen below.

This would be the problem to get diagnostics for

I am comparing the two sets of logs - one that failed to display channels found with this latest set which worked fine, may be some network issues ?

I had the same problem as well. I was refreshing my program guide (some new channels were added in my area), but it wouldn’t scan. Thank goodness Plex still had my channel listings from last time I scanned.

Are you thinking it was a network problem on my end or on plex’s end?

The network change events I extracted from the log at the time are for your local network so I was referring to your network

Interesting, so perhaps the other people also having the same issues have an unstable network connection? I’m not sure why I had a dodgy network connection at that time as my uptime was not affected. But it’s all working fine now.

I’m new to Plex and this type of setup, but I am running an nividia shield as my media server and a HD Homerun Duo.

I have this exact problem, Plex detects the tuner, scans the channels fine, I enter my post code in the next section fine and press continue but when it loads the guide data it sits at 0%

Any suggestions?

Steve

would need logs - but there was an issue with the handling of requests to our EPG provider that got fixed at about 4pm GMT (about 11 hours ago)

If problem persists, ensure debug logging enabled on the server and when the guide refresh is stuck, take a screenshot and get the logs

Here with the same issue. After installing 1.16.1.1246 I’m stuck after providing my postal code at 0% with the message “We’re finding the best guide for your channels and location. This should only take a few moments.”

Yeah its very disappointing. PLEX, I read your apologies for Australian customers. I’m a canadian and live in Quebec province. Today I update my server and notice one of my 4 channels did not mapped correctly so I delete my DVR. I tried to add it back, it found 4 channels but when I try to add Guide, it stuck at 0% forever. What a shame. So no DVR for me. I had many recordings for weeks to come! You should test your ?&?$% features before releasing. This kind of bug is unacceptable, unprofessional. You should bring back Gracenote support at least. You should notice that we do not all live in the united states
