Plex DVR, Trying to watch Live TV but get error "Unable to tune channel (no parts)"

Same here, all recordings fail with “Unknown Error” and attempting to tune live TV returns “Unable to tune channel (No parts)”. Plex version 1.9.6.4429 on RPi3 with HDHomeRun EXTEND. HDHomeRun app has no problem tuning/watching channels.

Same here, but with WinTV-dualHD, Safari, FireTV are not working.

I started having this issue on a single channel (all other channels work) since the update to 1.9.7.4460

Also have the same issue, Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD tuner

I agree with baileyjs78. My problem started with 1.9.7.4460. Hopefully the next update will resolve the problem.

You don’t have to tell me! I am just glad that she hasn’t seen the credit card bill lately :worried:

While I was working on the server last week, I turned off Beta and only opted for Public updates. After that I started having problems. Once I turned it back to Beta everything worked again. Dumb move on my end. Need to remember Live TV and DVR is still in Beta.

Was hoping to finally get rid of the Tivo, but if this thing is going to be this unstable then I’ll have to wait. It’s only 1 channel that is currently affecting.

This evening I tried watching the NFL Thursday night football on my Android phone. When tuning in NBC channel 39.1 from the antenna it displays an error of “An error has occurred, please try again later.” All other channels tune fine via the Android Plex app. Once I got home I tried tuning the same channel on the Roku version of the Plex app and I got a message which reads:

Live TV Playback Failed
Live TV playback could not be started

Yet, if I play the same channel from inside or outside the house using HDHR Fling or inside the house using the HDHomeRun Android App or the Amazon Fire TV app, the same channel tunes fine. For what it’s worth, the HDHomeRun Signal Meter indicates that my signal strength is 100% (I’m less than 15 miles from the transmitter for NBC).

Same for me. Tuner worked last night and this morning no channels will work. getting “Playback Error - Unable to tune channel”. Using Plex Version 1.9.7.4460 & HDHomeRun Quad Tuner. Plex seemed to lock up. Exited Plex and tried to start it back up, but wouldn’t start. Ended up rebooting to get Plex back.

Same here. Also using using Plex Version 1.9.7.4460 & HDHomeRun Quad Tuner. Very unreliable and reoccurring problem - unusable at this point, going back to Tablo until this is resolved, will monitor for updates.

As previously stated my problems began with PMS Version 1.9.7.4460. I updated to Version 1.10.0.4523 as soon as it was released. No help at all. Running PMS on a FreeNAS server and using a HDhomerun Prime. Clients are Web App, FireTV Stick, and Iphone. All you can do when Plex will not tune to a live TV channel is to restart the Plex server. That will fix the problem temporarily. I have a SSH app on my iPhone and added a command to restart Plex. So when I’m having problems grab the phone and only takes a few seconds to temporarily fix the problem.

What amazes me is that Windows Media Center was released in 2002. I started using it with my HDhomerun Prime in 2011. It has always been rock solid. I’m still using it on the main HTPC but I’ve tried to move away from it using both Plex live TV and the HDhomerun app. However, they are not ready for prime time and certainly not ready for the wife. I can’t understand why Plex and SiliconDust can’t duplicate what Microsoft did in 2002.

Has Plex acknowledged this issue?

This happens to me as well, and I get the message “unable to tune channel” and then upon a second try, it will say “unable to tune channel (no parts).” When it happens, it only happens on one particular channel (others tune fine). I’m on a Hauppage QuadHD PCIe tuner. Running latest plex bata 1.10.0.4523 on Windows 10 latest build on a dedicated server. I’ve attached logs that were generated just after this happens.

By the way after rebooting my server, all is well. Until it happens again…
