Plex EPG error (not Gracenote)

Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: 068 "Horror Channel"

@sa2000 have just posted this to the lineup inaccuracies form and posting here as well as there are only 6 days to correct this.

For Mon 31-May at 8pm local.

  • Plex EPG: shows “unknown Airing”
  • Should be: “Extant” s02e02
  • note: GraceNote shows this correctly, problem is on Plex EPG side (NextPVR which also uses Granite shows this correctly).
  • note: both preceding Mon (24-May) & following Mon (6-Jun) show OK in Plex.

OK, so this has been fixed but, without feedback, I have no clue if that was a self-healing thing, whether someone looked into it or it was something else entirely.

…scratch this one up to a other mystery of the universe…

Last I checked - sometime on 31 May - it was still a problem with a gap on 31 May at 20:00 BST.

I have looked into this and could see that the gap was still in the schedule.

I suspect that the reason for this was delayed availability of program data for the airing. I have opened an issue for our EPG ingestion team

Yes, it popped in and then popped out again!! Something hinky is going on…

The 2nd airing (Sat, 10am) is still there though.

can’t be. It was correct in Gracenote (NextPVR could see it via Schedulesdirect).

Possibly the program data was not available at the time of the initial attempt to create the schedule entry for 31 May 2021 20:00 BST - when it first appeared in the schedule data from gracenote

NextPVR had it roughly a week out (maybe longer, but that was when I first scheduled it in NextPVR).

Surely Plex “central” reloads (terminology?) data from Gracenote daily otherwise there would be no point in our local PMS’ performing a nightly EPG update??

I still think something else is gong on here; as I wrote above:

  • it wasn’t in Plex (but was in Gracenote)
  • then it was in Plex (and still was in Gracenote)
  • then it wasn’t in Plex again!! (but was still in Gracenote)

Can you report this please to the whichever back desk looks at these things?

We have been running with a fix for the EPG gaps issue for past two weeks and the fix is working well = the issue was with delayed availability of show data arriving some time after the schedule is available for ingestion

The fix was to have some “To Be Announced” placeholders until the show information is available.
