For example, I wasn’t able to record the new Roseanne series opener at 8pm EDT on 3/27 because the show didn’t show up in the program guide before or even during the show. I updated the guide but that didn’t make any difference. Shows before and after Roseanne showed up just fine.
Yes, same problem here with Roseanne. OTA in Atlanta, GA.
Also happened with the State of the Union a while ago, Instinct premiere, and Deception premiere, and Supernatural last night. It shows the show as still being in my list of shows to record, and shows upcoming episodes next week, etc. But it seems that last minute updates the day of or right before these broadcasts, erases them from the schedule. I am reporting the omissions here as requested elsewhere in the forum:
Plex Team,
Can you please provide an update on this question/issue? As a paid subscriber, I’d like to receive communication that my issue is being looked into along with a reasonable ETA on when a solution will be delivered.
Thanks,
Brad
Curious, When there is a show you know is on that doesn’t show up in Plex’s EPG lineup what happens if you go into live tv, filter for the specific channel and look at the lineup that way? Does it show the name of the show on or up next or is it blank?

I tried this and doesn’t show up. For example, The Big Bang Theory isn’t showing up tonight, and TV Guide shows it is NEW, however it does show up for next week. The HDHomeRun App (Windows 10) also sees it tonight as a new program. I have this issue with multiple shows. NCIS, Alex Inc, The Middle are three I can think of.
I did find out if you are using OTA you can schedule it in HDHomeRun and as you tell it to put the recording in the same directory as Plex looks at they show up and play in Plex when it does a scan and sees them.
Thanks,
Scott

Same here. . . Grey’s anatomy just dropped off of the EPG for tonight in ATX. PLEASE HELP THIS KEEPS HAPPENING.
I am having the same problem. Big Bang Theory not showing up in the program guide. This sucks, we need a fix!!!
Ditto. Missed Big Bang, Grey’s and Superstore tonight. Blacklist and Alex Inc yesterday. Some others a few days ago. I thought it was a small glitch, but it is turning into a big one.
I’ll add my complaint also. Big Bang Theory and Superstore missed tonight. Odd thing is, they were on the schedule to record - I’ve been checking the schedule daily because of unreliability of the DVR function.

I get the same behavior reported by the others in the thread.
Man I feel for you guys. I setup Big Bang Theory to record last night on two different Plex servers. One using the built in EPG and one using a 3rd party. Both failed as well.
I’m going to test again tonight with some extra debugging and clean logs and see if I notice anything strange. I’m also going to try and watch the DB for changes to the schedule.
I’ve got a crazy hunch on something, but before checking I’ll ask. Is everyone who is having this trouble using Windows? Did this start happening to you around March 11th or 12th time frame?
Thank you cayars! Unfortunately, I’m not sure when it first started as I’m pretty new to the DVR recording feature. Hopefully one of the other folks might have an idea. I’m running Plex on Ubuntu.
Please let me know if there’s anything else you need.
Thanks again,
Brad
It has happened to me before, but I couldn’t really tell you the date. I thought it was a small glitch. I’m using Windows.
I have a running thread about things dropping off the EPG before they can record. I’ve had some shows on schedule since last year like The Big Bang Theory. An EPG refresh will happen around 5pm, and random things in the evening prime time lineup (7-8pm mostly) will drop out. Logs show an attempt to record something, but Plex doesn’t realize what it’s supposed to be recording so it stops. A ticket has been submit about the error, but no real news has developed as of yet. You can follow my issue here:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/311965/items-falling-off-epg-before-dvr-can-record-them
just to chime in on platform, I use a Linux Mint desktop as my Plex server, a WD MyCloud EX2 as my storage (mounted through NFS), and all my clients are either Roku’s or smart TV’s or Android devices. No Windows here and I had similar problems, listed in my posting above.
There are some other threads on this same topic. Knock on wood, I haven’t seen this issue again myself in several days, but I also haven’t read anyone say that they fixed it yet either…
If only we had a MANUAL recording option! We could set up a weekly Big Bang recording regardless of guide errors.
Same problem here. Plex server running on Windows 7. Lethal Weapon and Roseanne were both scheduled to record tonight until I ran a manual program guide update to make sure everything was current. Now they no longer show as scheduled to record tonight. This is a major issue at this point! Help!
I have the same issue on Mac OSX (High Sierra) on a Mac Pro (5,1). As far as I have seen, shows appear in the Guide and when it is updated, some disappear randomly. Other shows do not show up in the Guide on a specific day but appear on another day. If I was programming this, I would do a check for all present and future shows that were determined to have been registered each day instead of just updating what had not been registered before. Each TV guide update would update from the present day. I am not sure what is exactly wrong with this Gracenote Guide issue (I religiously report errors), but I remember when working with Elgato tech support to debug tvguide issues with EyeTV that it took them almost one year to work out the kinks in the communications between them and TVGuide. They have this feature that allows one to delete the guide data, truly delete it in all ways (I tried deleting the Plex databases – see a previous comment – but that did not fix missing shows all the time as there must be other places either in Plex or in Gracenote where “existing” shows in the guide are listed in the db or flagged as updated) and then manually re-load the Guide to allow for missing shows to reappear. Another suggestion for the Plex programmers (I am just trying to be of service here) is to associate the numeric version of the channel ID (I use OTA) to a network and update the guide using the network name rather than the numeric ID. This would assist when there are far more channel ID’s than Networks.
I am experiencing the same issue and I am running Plex server Version 1.12.2.4929 on linux. Under DVR settings, I have the “Enable more frequent program guide refreshes” checkbox enabled. The issue I am seeing is that after a show is scheduled to be recorded, some of them that are scheduled for the same day the program guide refreshes keep disappearing after each refresh. I did not have this issue on version 1.12.1.4885. I have removed my program guide files, and downgraded to 1.12.1.4885. After refreshing the program guide again, the scheduled recording that went away are now back. I will keep an eye to see if they keep despairing this week. However, I don’t expect to have any issues using the downgraded version.
Looks like a new Plex version 1.12.3.4947 was just released. One of the fixes mentions shows disappearing from the program guide. I wonder if it’s possible this fix addresses the issue.
