I have a curious situation. I am ripping vinyl to my computer and then “putting” the files in the folder I use for Plex. Recently, I ripped 19 albums of “Living Shakespeare” to the computer, Set up a new library in Plex, and it all works. At the same time, I ripped the Byrds album “Turn, Turn Turn,” followed the same procedure as with the “Living Shakespeare” albums, and Plex does not find it. I have done the Plex Dance twice. My Music library is huge, and it takes a lot of time to move the entire file to another location, delete the library from Plex, rerun the scan files in Plex, move it all back, and run file scan again. It finds all my other Byrds albums in the subfolder, except the one I ripped. The file structure and naming is the same for both examples. I use the titles of the files just for clarity in this post. Any comments?
Please detail your folder structure and file names.
(actual examples please, not generic patterns)
If you are embedding meta data, please post these as well.
In general, see: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/
as well as this:
OK, I got the MP3tag software and scanned my music, so now what do I do with this scan? Can the scan be saved? It may take me awhile to learn the software ins and outs. Jerry
Mp3tag is for inspection, editing, and automatically adding meta tags.
There is no need to use this particular app to edit meta tags, but of course it is a recommendation.
I have posted this screenshot for you, so that you can see the important (in Plex) types of meta tags and how they look like in an album.
maybe drag the album folder with your files into mp3tag and make a screenshot similar to mine.
Then we can easily spot the differences and find missing things.
