Plex Folder missing files and folders after install

Server Version#: Plex 1.20.0.3181-0800642ec
Synology DS1019+

I noticed that my Plex server on Synology was not running (it was working fine for months). When attempting to Run it, I get the “Failed to Run Package Service.” message in DS.

I decided to check the Plex version and upgraded it to the above version doing a Manual Install. Still get the ‘Failed to run’ error.

After various permissions checks, and following support postings, I discovered that the root Plex folder was missing all the database files. The only thing it has is Plex\Library\Application Support\Plex Media Server and tmp_transcoding. But all the files are missing. And I know other folders are missing as well.

So I manually reinstalled the above version of Plex server. Nothing changed. Missing files and folders remained a problem,

I then Deleted the Plex folder, rebooted the Synology and tried the install again. Exactly the same problem. Files and folders missing except for those folders mentioned above.

I then discovered that the Plex folder does not have Read/Write permissions. So I checked those on. Reinstalled. Same problem. And the Read/Write permissions were checked off.

How do I reinstall Plex server and get this working again. I’m aware that all my files are missing/deleted, so at this point, I’m ok with doing a fresh/clean install and starting again.

I also previously created a Plex user and followed these instructions: Plex Media Server security changes for Synology users

I gave the Plex user Admin group privileges.

How do I do a fresh/clean install if running the manual install won’t work?

That worked. The download SHA-1 was verified to be correct. Appears that I previously didn’t delete the plex user. After following the above instructions, it now works. Thanks for your help.
