I just unchecked optimized battery for plex and now seems to be working okay. Will report back if anything changes.
In Android 11 (Galaxy S21) I had to go to Settings - Battery & Device Care - Battery - Background Usage Limits. Then add plex to the āNever Sleeping Appsā list

is there a fix for thisā¦ i was going to buy plex pass but this is a show stopper for meā¦ i get to listen to about a minute of the song then it stopsā¦ i tried all the battery and sleeping tricks but nothing works

Ongoing issue for months now - mobile data and wifi, on or off, has no effect. Locally stored music canāt play more than 1 song in a row without staring at my phone. Battery options have no effect either.
Please, devs, focus less on placing ad based content, and refocus on being a great media player.
Iāve been using Plex media server for years, and my subscribers are getting pissed they canāt listen to music. Something they used to be able to do.
The simplest of functionsā¦smh.

Iām experiencing the same annoing issue.
Canāt get it working whit any of the suggested options.
Plex App on my always updated Samsung S20+ syncronized from an always updated Plex Server on Qnap.
When Iām playing offline synconized music to my bluethoot Bose QC35 II, after the smartphone screen locks playback stops. Sometimes stopping the ongoing song and sometimes the next song doesnāt start. If I press/touch anything on the cellphone it restart playing.
Tried all the battery saving options by also putting all the apps into ānever sleep modeā.
Just one time while trying Iāve got it working fine but without any setting change.
Crazy and very frustrating.
You know when you just want to relax/sleep listening music on a long flight?
Onestly Iāve never tried if the same happens when online.
But Iāve also got Plex Pass for the offline feature.
Hopefully the issue will be solved soon.

Also would like to add that offline music syncronizazion stops as well when smartphone freeze.
And on the Samsung S20 you canāt deactivate the sreen off function. You can just go up from 15 seconds to maximum 10 mininutes before stand-by.

Trying to keep this issue active, I am going through the same issue using pixel 4xl, after a few minutes connection to server seems to stop / disconnect.
Hard to say as my phone is customized in German and from Samsung. On my phone there is a menu option which translates to ādevice maintenanceā. There you find options for saving battery. You have to exclude Plex from all of those. This seems to be key. However as I wrote before this does not always seem to work. Sometimes I can hear music uninterrupted for ours as expected. At other times it stops like after 10 min but still later than the screensaver.
What I suspect is that these savings settings are monitored by the device somehow and under certain conditions (maybe low battery) they are either ignored or overwritten.
