Plex for Mac 1.34.1 new issue with blinking white lines during playback

Continuing the discussion from Plex for Mac and Windows:

Right after my Mac client auto-updated to the new Plex 1.34.1 desktop app, whenever I play a video file there appear to be scrollbars appearing and disappearing on the right and bottom edge of the screen. They blink on and off faster than once a second, so it’s super distracting.

It stops when I pause, and they are only present during video playback.

The client device is a Mac mini running macOS Mojave 10.14.6, connected to a 720P TV.

So in the meantime, can I downgrade? I can’t seem to find any links on the downloads page for older versions.

Yes, I am experiencing exactly the same thing. MacBook Pro Mid-2015, MacOS Big Sur 11.4

Same issue here on MacPro 5,1 (2012) running Mojave. I pulled the v1.33.0 from my TimeMachine backup and replaced the v1.34.1. The blinkking white lines are gone. Hope they fix this soon.

Same problem here. I haven’t tried downgrading as I don’t see where to find old versions.

Thank you for reporting this. I’m able to reproduce to some degree on my MBP 11.5.2. I’ll file an issue for this.

Thank you. For me it flashes in and out at the bottom on two machines both OS 11.5.2. One 2020 Macbook Air and one 2019 15" Macbook Pro

Having the same issue on Mac Pro. Is there a way to downgrade in the meantime until this is fixed @Atomatth ?

Same issue. 2015 Macbook Pro 15". Blinking bars on the bottom and right side.

Current version 1.24.1.4931

Same issue here, MacBook Pro 15inch running macOS 11…5.2

Trouble is, almost every day when I start Plex app, is inmediately starts updating itself and I have to be quick to cancel that. I thought I had turned off automatic updates, but it happens anyway.
So very irritating. It seems very unlogical. But Mac users are often ignored so I shouldn’t be surprised…

Well, this is frustrating, I would say during the 1st few mins of any show/anime it’s non-visible however getting in 15+ min it’s very visible & the bottom bar decreases in size as you get closer to the end of an episode/film.

the lower resolution you play at the more visible those bars are. very frustrating when watching very very old shows.

This is happening on my MacBook 16", running 1.34. I’ve reinstalled 1.33 from download page and it’s gone, must be a small bug in 1.34.

I know @Atomatth has already replicated and filed an issue (thanks for getting to it quickly), but just to join in with the ‘same here’ crowd (MacBook Air Mid-2012 - Catalina 10.15.7 - Version 1.34.1), and hopefully we’ll be updated in this thread when its working. Shall backdate to 1.24.1 for the meantime edit: or not as am using Plex for Mac not the server, which is still at 1.34.1, backdated to 1.33.1 by toggling the Plex pass downloads switch and having no issues

Strangely, I’ve had intermittent cases of it appearing in fullscreen, then disappearing when the cursor does, then reappearing when ‘Skip Intro’ comes up where it then stays flashing. Have also changed the sys pref for scroll bar options thinking it could be related (they stop flashing, stay a solid bar, and grow in width when the cursor is over them, akin to scroll bars), but it made absolutely no difference… Haven’t had any differences with changing resolution, window size, monitor, etc. They also disappear when it is paused but will appear then fade once when the UI comes up with cursor movement and likewise when the UI goes with inactivity (the vertical line also reduces in height when the UI disappears, from full window height to about 7/8th). If any of that is at all useful or not…!

I saw there was an update today for Plex for Mac (copied info below). Still seeing the issue persist after manually updating from 8/24 release to 8/26 release.
