Plex for Mac (desktop player) no playback

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645-ccb6eb67e
Player Version#: 1.9.0.1188-c009e512
MacOS Catalina 10.15.4

First time using Plex for Mac desktop app, but longtime Plex Pass user. Playback just doesn’t work. I can connect to the server with the app, browser the dashboard, but just spins on playback. This is remote. I can hit the URL on the forwarded WAN port and it plays as usual via Plex Web, iOS, and the last Plex Media Player 3.0 beta build (although takes several seconds to start on that beta). But on Plex for Mac latest it just spins.

When I test a Plex for Mac install on my PMS machine itself (latest PMS, macOS 10.14.6), it does play back. So not sure if it’s a Catalina issue or an internet playback issue. Any known issues re either?

Can you follow these instructions to get the logs after replicating the issue again? Post the zip files here and include the local the time that you attempted play back.

Thanks!

Don’t think I want to put my log files on a public forum, with IP address PII, etc. However, I’ve confirmed it’s not the OS; pretty sure it’s because of some unusual net config on this machine. Will dig further when I get a chance.

I’m having the same problem. Literally started between one movie and the next a couple nights ago and I’ve been unable to play anything ever since. Not sure if it helps but it seems odd - in the localmedia.log I see a warning that the Media part has not stream - attempting to synthesize. This an .mkv file that I know is good - I can play it with other players. Anything I should look for or do? I too don’t really want to send full logs on an open forum
