Plex for Mac not smooth on 4K screen

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with i5 CPU, connected to a 4K monitor.
While play a same 4k h265 HDR video in windowed mode, like 1080P, both App and web are smooth.
However, when play in full screen mode, the videos from app will freeze from time to time, the web is fine.
What’s more, play a small 1080P H264 video in full screen mode will suffer same lag from app.

I have the same problem. Did you ever find a fix? I only discovered the issue when I tried to update to the latest Plex app for Mac. Until then I had been using the older Plex media player last updated in 2020. When I couldn’t get that newer version to playback properly I switched back to the older version which still works fine, but will eventually break due to being outdated and not updated.
