_Starting with this release (and moving forward), the app on PlayStation 3 will no longer be updated with the regular release cycle. The existing release (v3.1.0) will continue to be available, but the app will not be receiving new features.

FIXES

  • Fix music player play queue not updating after adding items to the queue
  • Fix on-screen controls sometimes popping up intermittently while playing back video
  • Fix playback issues for media from Plex Cloud, and media with mono AC3 audio
  • Browsing photos and videos that are on a mobile device is no longer supported. Casting (flinging) photos and videos from the device to the TV app is still supported using Plex Companion. Unfortunately, we’re unable to work around UI and server troubles which combine to inhibit a consistent user experience

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Show number of available audio/subtitle tracks on preplay screen
  • Add ability to remove tracks from a play queue and items from a playlist
  • Add more recovery options directly on the error screen
  • Improve reliability of casting local media from mobile devices

  • Pressing Left, Right, Up, or Down remote control buttons during initial video buffering now correctly navigates between video player control buttons.
  • Browsing cloud servers no longer displays unblurred background images.
  • The first letter jump bar now works correctly when browsing a music library as a list of tracks sorted by title.

FIXED:

  • All: Pressing stop before media is ready will correctly teardown the media components.
  • All: The music player no longer respects the allow direct play and allow direct stream video player setting.
  • All: Logging to media servers is able to be disabled after being enabled.

PlayStation 4 only. PlayStation 3 remains at 3.1.0. We’re hoping that the first fix below avoids a potential crash opportunity on the PS4.

FIXED:

  • All: Prevent the movie and tv show detail page for the first poster in a hub or list from mistakingly loading much more data than necessary. This could lead to devices freezing or crashing.
  • All: Mixed photo and video libraries will progress through slideshows correctly.
  • All: Text-to-speech improvements, particularly in Search.
  • All: Various Search keyboard layout and header layout bug fixes.
  • All: Correct Korean translation typo in Cinema Trailer setting options.

The Plex for PlayStation 4 v2 beta has been updated to v3.72.0
