Hi All,
Got 2013 installed in my Samsung 2014 TV (h series)…Actually INSTALLED, not just a USB job. ohh baby, there was lots of pain, frustration and black magic involved!
Looks like they are not putting this up. And in-fact v2012 Plex was not working recently. A few weeks ago i reset my 2014 tv (dont ask why) and then tried to reinstall Plex 2012 (latest available on the Smart Hub store), it was listed, but “Error 2007” when tried to download. this was like this for about 3 weeks, now its working again. seems they fixed their issue. I am annoyed because i was on Live Chat with support and got so much miss information and BS… Anyway, for anyone who wants this on their TV (installed), i have the solution… you can also use this method to install anything. USB was one way, and i used 2013 Plex for a while that way but it wasnt good enough, as you need to go all the way in to Smart Hub as a USB app would not appear on the start/launch bar… super annoying!. As well as needing a permanent USB in the TV containing the Plex app. then i discovered how to get a downloaded ORSAY OS app (such as Plex) installed in the Samsung TV…without using the Retarded Smart Hub Store… so happy.
YOU NEED TO BE A LITTLE TECHNICAL! Sorry…
- no need to uninistall plex, keep your current version (just in case).
- download the USB zip provided by the creator (thanks mate btw)
- you will need to recreate this zip file because all the files will need to be in the root of the zip file instead of under a sub folder “Plex” (as the zip provided was intended for USB use only)… so extract the files from the ZIP
- go in to the extracted Plex folder and make a new zip of all the files.
(end result should be a zip file called Plex2013.zip with all files and folders in the root of it) - you will need a local web server, or at least somewhere you can post a file online and download it via a URL
- create a sub folder in web root on your server called “Widgit”
- copy the zip file you created above to said folder “Widgit”
- Create a file called widgetlist.xml in the root folder of your web server
eg C:\inetpub\wwwroot\widgetlist.xml
Place the following xml data in the xml file changing the IP to your web server’s IP and the filename if needed.
Also set the correct file size in bytes, although it should be right already as i put in “6329932”, but check anyway.
USE NOTEPAD++ (not Notepad) and be sure to save it as a UTF-8 format

Install the app using your own web server’s IP and the appropriate instructions for your model year TV
Install for 2014 H-Series Plus Selected J and K Series
(Supported models: All H and HU (4K) series models plus J4300, J5200, J5300, J6200 and K8500)a. You can logon as develop (user “develop”, password “000000” or blank for some models) by clicking the menu button and than select Smart Hub and in there Samsung Account menu on your remote.
b. After you logged on as develop you can press the smart hub button on your remote.
c. Go to my app’s list and on one of the installed apps hold the enter button down for a few seconds.
d. Another window will pop up giving you the option to add the IP address. enter your web server IP
e. Afterwards hold the enter button down to go in the options again and choose “Start User app sync”.
f. There will pop up a new window which says “user apps sync is requested”
g. After a few seconds the app will be installed on your TV. -
now you will see a new plex icon added, this will be version 2013 (when i finally saw this appear OMG… jumping for joy!)
-
Restart the TV… you will have been logged out of develop and back to your normal user, but the app you installed remains. YAY
-
go in and pair and configure, ensure your happy with it
-
remove the old plex app you had. i suggest ensuring 2013 all works first because 2012 was not available on the store for weeks. dont want anyone else stuck with no Plex.
Cheers all.
Happy Plex’ing!
