Samsung TV - v2.012 - Resume won't work anymore

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: 2,012
Unfortunately since the latest upgrade the TV Plex app cannot resume anymore the movies. The player shows how many minutes are watched, but when I click on player it starts from the beggining.
Anybody has the same issue? Any workaround or fix?

The app for your TV hasn’t been updated for a long (and won’t be as the volunteer developer of that app is no longer able to maintain it due to health reasons).

Unfortunately, it appears that there is a bug in this app that didn’t surface until the recent server updates. See this post for details:

Probably your only option is to downgrade your server version if you can. Alternatively, you can investigate getting a (relatively) cheap streaming device to connect to your TV – Plex apps for those devices are maintained/updated regularly by Plex.

So basically, if you have a 2015 Samsung TV or earlier you are stuck with the March PMS until you either buy a new TV or buy additional hardware?
The UX experience of a casting device for most users is far inferior to the integrated smart tv app.

“Casting device”? I meant something like a Roku or Amazon Fire TV box

Both are cheaper than buying a new TV though that is an option as well.

Seriousely?! Guys! Listen yourself. You even thinking to buy another thing, just because a bug (which was a feature actually) is fixed? Who knows what bugs on those devices?! And if there is a bug what Plex introduce I can trough it away again?
I have a smart TV where Plex should develop an app, not relay on somebody else
Shame.

This is a software and if that issue was not causing any other issues, why they fixed it?! It broke the product.

You’re using an app that was not developed by nor supported by Plex. There is no one to report the bug to unfortunately.

Yes, downgrading and staying with that version is an option.

No way in downgrading the PMS if it’s linked/connected to a Seedbox.

Thanks! Itb works again

I’ve got the same issue on two older Samsung TV’s.
Too bad that no one can step in and fix the app so a lot of owners of the older Samsung model tv’s can enjoy this handy feature again.

But as long as that is not the case
where can I download the older working 1.15.2.793 version.
I use the resume a lot on my tv’s and therefor will downgrade my server version.

Never mind. Found it myself.
TV version of Plex workung again.

How do you downgrade? I downloaded the installer, but it says that it cannot be installed because there is a newer version already installed.

How do you downgrade the version of Plex server? The feature worked properly and now it doesn’t. I do not want to add additional hardware to my TV as all the ports are used! I would rather change away from plex and ask for a refund on my lifetime membership!

Hearing that the bug won’t be patched is a sad state of affairs, especially since I’ve been a lifetime member for the past several years (early 2014 i think).

I’m guessing the developer you’re talking about is Orca? I remember a lot of his early work getting the samsung app into “internet@TV” in the early smart TVs. Hope you get well soon mate if you’re out there!

Remove the currently installed version.
All settings will not be removed.
Install the older version.
And you’ve got a working version again.

OK, where can I get the old version of plex server (for windows) from?

Take a look into your Plex data folder
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/
There is a subfolder named ‘Updates’ in there.

Don’t use ‘uninstaller’ software or ‘cleaner’ software to do the uninstallation!

Thanks! that’s helped a lot.

So, just to be clear, if I uninstall Plex, then re-install the older version, will my library data still be intact?
