As you might have noticed, the language selection in the app did no longer work.
This was caused by a move from translation sites. The app used ‘GetLocalization’ before, but that one is no longer available. Plex moved to Transifex and asked me to adapt the app to use the new site. So don’t expect big changes or that I picked up development again, this is just a one-off.
The release notes:
v 2.013
Removed: CloudSync, reason: no longer supported
Removed: Watch later/Recommended reason: no longer supported
Update: Switched translation site from GetLocalization to Transifex
Fixed: Closing a photo could skip the folder it was in and returned to the root.
thnx @Orca , didnt notice the language issue
but really appreciated for this fix…
still use your app on my main tv in living room, works much better then official app
appreciate your update fix , too bad it will be the last “again”
Wow, so good to hear from you Orca, your Client is the best Plex Client for my Samsung TV
To bad Plex changed a lot in 1.15/1.16 so 2.012 will work best with 1.14 but I rather stay on your Client then update PlexServer
If you believe in God, may He or She or It bless you.
If you don’t believe in any sort of supreme being, f█ck it, you rock, dude. I use your app DAILY at home to watch tons of sh█t in my old but trusty Samsung 2012 TV. Thank you. THANK YOU. I don’t know if you really grasp the fact that a lot of people, all around the world, are enjoying what they want thanks to your help. And that makes them -us- happy. Making people happy is by far not a small thing these days.
no issues here either with 1.15 / 1.16 , there was indeed some issue in some release, that the resume function was broken for orcas version but plex fixed that
since then , no issues, still on 2.012 here
Yes resume funktion maybe fixed but the Recently Added is not updated on the start screen after
version 1.14.x at least on my UE55H6400 with Client 2.012
I only see recently added when i go into the Library itself.
Since updating to 2.013, player hangs at the end of every video with a black screen, I can only press exit to go back to tv mode. Please could someone tell me how to roll back to 2.012?
Updated on ES8000.
Also added a Roku Streaming Stick+ with Plex & Youtube.
Reading about the SEK-4500 “evo kit” but it’s not available in UK and reviews/cost don’t look great.
First of all, thanks a lot for the tremendous effort you did and still do put into this project. Awesome!
I installed the Update on my Samsung UE55F6600 with the hope that the Trailers will start to work again, but no luck unfortunately. Do you know if there is a general problem with playing trailers on my Samsung Model? I also found a German post stating the same problem (Trailer - Der angeforderte Stream wurde nicht gefunden - #13 by myclecop)
My Situation
Latest Plex Server (1.18.0.1944) and latest Samsung Plex App on UE55F6600 (2.0.13)
Trailers work on the Web Client
Trailers do not play on the Samsung Client (Unable to connect to the content Server)
In the logs I do not find meaningful information. Two warnings from the Plex App:
“Warning — [PlexforSamsung] [Player.js] - Player Connection Failed!” & “Warning — [PlexforSamsung] [Player.js] - Player stop playback ERROR”
Additionally I see that the connection to my server is http, however the connection to the trailer domain is https, any way to change that?
What I tried:
Re-installed & resetted Plex Samsung App
Re-installed & resetted Plex Media Server
Tried with various combos of secure/unsecure connections on server and app
Tried with setting player default to auto, transcoding, direct play, streaming
Tried with different Media Languages
Tried with signed in, signed off plex account on Samsung App
Validated system times of server and client
Attached the corresponding logs: plex_logs.txt (9.0 KB)
I’d be so happy if you Orca or anyone else has an idea how to fix this, I already spent so many hours and days trying to resolve this issue. Everything else works perfectly .
Nice Orca! Thanks for this…
I’m still using the Plex app version 2.008 on my Samsung TV UE65JS8500 and noticed that the TV shows reel wasn’t properly showing the recently added tv shows after I recently updated my Plex server to Version 1.18.0.1944.
So I was browsing the forum and just found out that you have been updating this app and have a new version released.
Do you have any indications from Samsung that I will be able to update it via them?
If not, can you provide me with some instructions on how to manually install this 2.013 version via USB? I tried looking at instructions on older versions but all the links were broken and the pages/comments it referred too, doesn’t exist anymore it seems…
Normally, Samsung should automatically provide the updates on your TV. On mine this was the case about 3 weeks ago (2.013).
The USB solution:
The instructions of Orca from an old thread:
Format a USB drive with the FAT32 format
Create a folder in the root called Plex
Unzip the contents of the download into the Plex folder.
Insert the USB into you Samsung device (try a different port if it doesn’t see the stick)
You should now have a new Plex icon in your SmartHub
Select it and start it up like you would normally.
The USB needs to stay connected when you use Plex!
Thx a lot!
Instructions seems pretty straight-forward, but I was hoping I wouldn’t be needing the USB to stay connected… there is no way to “install” it to stay in the TV? via SSH, or FTP or similar instead?
Hmm so you mean that the 2.013 version is already available via Samsung?
Mine didn’t seem to update automatically, so I deleted my 2.008 version yesterday and went to the “app store” again and installed it, and I now got version 2.012 …
I have a F serie which updated 2 weeks ago.
And a H serie which Is still offering 2.012 version.
Probably Samsung Is going ti release this update gradually
@orca Thanks for the great app. But I really wish the navigation can be improved, such as the ability to navigate to the “season” or the “show” from current episode view. It is quite annoying that we can play the next episode of a show from the home screen but after watching that episode, the only way to watch the next episode (batch watching), I have to go back to home page before the next episode appear there. In LG tv, from within the episode view, there is an option to directly go to the next episode or go to the season page to select the next episode.
On the update, my tv (UA48H6400ARXXM) still show 2.012 as the latest version…
Please be aware that due to health reasons, the developer (Orca) is unlikely to respond (indeed, even see your post) or to update the app further. Not impossible, just very unlikely.
