Plex for Windows app, strange fullscreen behavior

Player Version#: 1.4.1.940

Plex for Windows seems to have some issues with fullscreen.

  • There’s no button to go fullscreen when not playing a video (F11 works though)
  • The app doesn’t “remember” fullscreen state, i.e. if you quit while in fullscreen, it won’t start on fullscreen next time (PMP did this)
  • If you are in fullscreen and you start playing a video using the Remote Control feature of the Android App, it will quit fullscreen

Those are pretty annoying issues, especially since PMP handles all this perfectly fine.

+1 and one more issue:

  1. Maximize Plex for Windows
  2. Start playing video
  3. Fullscreen
  4. Un-fullscreen: window is no longer maximized but has a random size that is quite smaller.

+1 more. Any news on the fullscreen button missing being fixed?

So the web app is a reduced experience with no surround sound and the Windows app is not useful as a media player without constant annoyances… Yup, that pretty much sums up my experience with Plex for Android w/ Chromecast as well. Works maybe 25% of the time, the Chromecast support usually fails after a few pause / resume sequences and try to fast forward… Lol. You sure are making it hard for me to use your product.

Same issue here, running the latest version of Plex for Windows. Sticking with Plex Media Player until the fullscreen issue is resolved, because it’s so insanely irritating.

Plex for Windows is annoying…
Always launches in windowed mode
Will not stay in fullscreen. Returns to windowed mode when stopping, pausing, and starting another video.
Will not stay maximized. Again always returns to windowed mode…

Windows 10 1909 Build 18353.720
Plex Version 1.7.0.1033-7d8b78ca

How do I get Plex for windows to stop this behavior?

I’m also having this weird behaviour

Same issues, what’s up plex ?

I’m having the same issue. The Plex app will not stay fullscreen or even maximized. If I pause a video, it automatically returns to a window. If I click fullscreen again or press F11 and then play the video, it happens again. You have to play the video and then go fullscreen for it to stay.

The media player app works normally in desktop and TV modes.
