Plex for Windows (not server or PMP) constantly nags for update after I installed the latest version

Server Version#: 1.21.2.3943
Player Version#:1.27.1.1571-2fface66

I have been seeing an update notice when launching the Windows version of Plex (not plex server) for some time. I did the update a while ago, but it required a plex pass, so I uninstalled it and went back to the last version I had. Now I have a Plex pass, so I thought I would do the upgrade, but it continues to prompt me for an upgrade even after upgrading. I uninstalled it and reinstalled a fresh download from the website and I still get the nag. What gives?

Am I the only one who has this problem? It happens on both of my windows computers. It gets annoying having to click a “remind me later” button before Plex will finish loading. If I click “update,” it goes through the update process, but then comes back to the request to update dialog again.

I’m having this issue too! It drives me nuts. I uninstalled, re-installed latest version, even chose a different path… still, same thing. ugh I will continue to browse the forums… you’re the first post I found that mentions it.

UPDATE! This fixed it for me… First close the PLEX player, and make sure you have the latest version installed.

Click the windows start button… in that run field type %APPDATA% then press ENTER

Your hidden application data folder window should appear.

Navigate to the “local” folder (you might need to back-track from the folder it opens in)
Directory will end in: …\AppData\Local

Under “Local” find the “Plex” folder.

Go to the “cache” folder, then to the “updates” folder.

DELETE the entire contents of this folder.

Close that window.

Start PLEX… no update warning.
