Plex for Windows UHD Washed Out Picture & Artifacts

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797
Player Version#: 2.58.0.1076-38e019da

Currently, any 4K movies played back with Plex looks horrible: washed out, lots of relatively big off-colored dancing squares, most visible in bright backgrounds (not the movie grain).

I’ve tried to disable Hardware acceleration (and copy-back), even installing K-Lite codecs. Nothing makes a difference. VLC plays them just fine and looks identical to playing them through my FireStick.

I’d much rather play the movies through my computer because it’s connected to a much better DAC.

Is this a known issue ?

For reference, I’m using a GTX 1080 Ti. Here are some shots of Plex showing the issue and VLC, which plays fine.

Plex Media Player is considered end-of-life and will never gain support for HDR.

Install und use either Plex for Windows or Plex HTPC.

@OttoKerner Ah! I didn’t even realize there was a new htpc version out. Looks much better now.

Thanks!!
