On the new Plex for Windows player, I could not find a way to check for updates. I’m Plex Pass and using the plex pass builds. On one of my desktops, when opening the player from the taskbar, it asked me if I wanted to upgrade from 1.9 -> 1.10, which worked smoothly. This update happened around 2 days ago.
On my other desktop, the player is stuck at 1.9 still. I can see 1.10 on the web repo of downloads, but it’s obviously easier to let the player update itself rather than installing the latest one manually.
It’s not a major issue, just seeing if I am missing something obvious or if there’s some other way to force the update check – not entirely sure how the player is checking.
There is no forcing. Update check should commence automatically after the app has been running for a few minutes.
If you need it to update now you can always download the installer and run it.
Thanks, I figured out what the issue was. You have to let the app run for a bit before the update check can be kicked off, and then it will ask for an update on the next start. I kept trying to restart it to get the update dialog to trigger, but the check only can be triggered if you leave the app open for a bit, which makes sense.
I just wanted to better understand how the update check was being triggered.
