My problem is that for some reason the videos will freeze after roughly 10 to 13 minutes.
The image on the screen will freeze and the audio will stop but the timeline of the movie will continue.
The server thinks the video is also playing but you can see that the local bandwidth is not being used.
Then when I select the playback to be automatic which transcodes the video, the issue is resolved.
Why in the world is this happening and why is there no way to contact Plex support directly?
I’m also having this issue. Running PMS 1.18.8.2527. Playback just stops on multiple devices. Direct play. No indication of buffering or anything. Restarting the stream or changing to transcode fixes it. Haven’t been able to figure it out.
I have been getting the same thing since moving my PMS from one MacMini to another with the exact same hardware and software. Running the latest Plex. It happens on multiple Plex players using the clients. It does not happen in Plex Web.
I’m having the same issue all of a sudden after over a year with this same setup. It continuously occurs on an Amazon fire cube and a first gen fire TV. Haven’t had a chance to test my shield TV yet.
If I hit back and then play again it plays again. Seems to happen every 20-30 minutes. My value of the suggested change is 15
Have you cleared the Cache for plex in setting than uninstalled plex? I had some new and really weird problems with the last 2 updates. One issue was pausing every 30 minutes . The other issue was plex would restart without the option of sending a crash report. Uninstalling and clearing the cache solved my issue.
Hope this helps
It would also seem that issue was resolved by zeroing out the 10 minutes timer for the paused video.
After I removed the 10 minute timer that would kick users out for being idle and pausing their video I no longer get the hang every 10 minutes which makes 0 sense to me as to how that issue correlates to the hanging but…
I have my cache specifically stored on my m.2 drive for chapter meta data and cache. So that I can see the chapters and users can select which chapter they wish to resume the video on.
