Hi, I’m running PMS in Docker and everything has been working great for a number of years. As the kids have gotten a little older I thought it would be a good idea to create managed accounts for them so they don’t dip into any movie they’re not supposed to watch.
Again, this works well enough but the ‘Home’ tab for their accounts are blank. The Movies. TV, Music & Home Video tabs all work as expected but the Home tab just displays “No content available. Kindly ask the Plex Home admin to share content with you.”
I have entered the library settings on my account and ticked what I would like to show in ‘Friends Home’ reccomendations but they’re just not showing. Am I doing something wrong?
How did you restrict the media shared with your kids?
The home page is populated by all the libraries which are pinned ot the side bar.
But if you have only shared single items (i.e. a “whitelist” of media) instead of sharing whole libraries and defining a maximum age rating (i.e. a “blacklist”),
there is nothing to pin to the side bar.
Yea, so i actually have folders/libraries for the kids stuff - kids movies, kids tv, kids home videos - so I didn’t even bother selecting age limits. I know those 3 folders/libraries are appropriate for them so those are the only 3 i shared with them.
That’s right. Yea, they’re pinned. I can click on those 3 libraries and see/play everything as well. The recommendations show inside each library as well - just not on the home tab
Is it possible that you have prevented these libraries from appearing on the Home page and in Search results?
Edit each of then. On the “Advanced” tab is the “Visibility” selector.
If these libraries are supposed to contribute to the Home screen (of any user), they must not be excluded.
Settings - Server - Manage - Libraries
expand the “Manage Recommendations” of each affected library and ensure that each checkbox that shall be visible on the Home page is indeed filled in the “Home” column (and in the “Friend’s Home” column as well).
It can’t hurt to optimize your server database as well.
That’s my recommendation. Oh… wait a minute! There’s probably no season menu and movies haven’t been played on their account!! Let me try adding some others…
