this is the same for me. the option appears in the web app only, but even when enabled the option to stream does not appear on any of the home accounts.

Which software version is on your server? You need the latest beta version 1.11.0.4666

I have this version and still, I am unable to see the feature!

To reiterate:

  • Your server software version must be 1.11.0.4666 or above. 1.11.0.4666 is the current beta version. By default, your server will not offer you to update to a beta. You need to change to the ‘Beta update channel’ (Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’)
  • You must be using the ‘hosted’ web app. NOT the app you get when you go to the local IP of your PLex server.
  • If your server is running 24/7, give it a restart so it connects to plex.tv to fetch the latest feature releases
  • You must have the DVR feature already set up and working in your server.

Just a note: I was experiencing the same issue… I thought I had the latest version of the server… But I downloaded before I join Plex Pass. Turns out when you join Plex Pass you get a newer version available to download. So I had to download again after activating Plex Pass and upgrade the version of server that I had installed.

i am having this issue. no option for friends. please advise.

I think in an update they “fixed” this. I think it was not meant to ever work with friends and only Home members.

Does the selection for Program Guide show at all? No-one but the owner/administrator can schedule recordings (schedule in future OR press record current program). Did you restart the server after downloading and installing the plexpass server version (version 1.11.0.4633 or later)? Do you have the latest client version?

Just found this thread as I knew at one time I was able to set a friend to watch live TV, but I could never find it again… I can’t believe they would have removed that feature… Personally, I prefer that option. I don’t necessarily want to invite friends to my home network just so they can watch live TV… Is this being addressed? Anyone else looking for the same? I am at Version 1.13.4.5271

It is not a bug. It was a conscious decision to remove access of friends to live tv.

Use the plug in HD Grand Slam and share plug ins with your friends, this option still works to share live TV.
