I have been running Plex since 2015 on windows server 2012R2 but was forced to update my OS so that the new client app would work. I have it installed on Stripped down windows 11 pro and my son has an android box with the plex client app on it. He can access it but we want to make it his default home screen. I can not figure out how to do this. Everything I read says in the left column do stuff but there is no left column.
That’s the new mobile app layout, not the android tv app (which still has the old layout).
Did he load the Plex app from the Google store? If so, his box may be running Android mobile instead of Android TV.
On a mobile phone you long press on Libraries to pull up the list and select favorites. No idea how to do that on a streaming device.
Live TV & other online media can be disabled in account settings: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources
Yeah that should not be available yet for real android Tv devices. why we don’t have docs yet for it.
In any case you should be able ot favorite the libraries by selecting “Libraries” at the top then “All Libraries” a side pop out should appear with list of libraries. Favorite the ones you want by selecting the heart icon next to the libraries so it is filled in. Those library’s recommendation rows should then appear on the top of home screen.
Ya is shows up as Google pixel 3 not android tv. How can I get just the apk? Long press does nothing on libraries
Didn’t work. Just added a row from it marked “Recently Added” that’s it.
You can get APKs for the old app here. Plex for Android - #529 by PlexAndroidReleaser
if you just select (regular press, not long press) “libraries” is “All libraries” not an option that appears?
do you have other recommendation rows enabled on your server? https://support.plex.tv/articles/manage-recommendations/
I realize i may be misunderstanding what you are trying to accomplish
I was able to find the “TV” apk and installed that instead and it’s good now but thanks for the help guys!
