There are two distinct issues that I’ll try to describe as best I can:
If I add the same TV show media path to 2 libraries, the Home screen will intermittently show duplicates of this TV show in the “Continue Watching” / “On Deck” view.
The Home section intermittently contains TV shows from unpinned libraries.
Both issues only seem to occur after navigating away from the Home screen to some other library directly (e.g. Movies or Series), and then going back to the Home screen. On first launch, everything works as expected.
Both issues only seem to occur on my Samsung TV and do not occur on the web or iPhone applications.
It’s hard to pinpoint which version of the Samsung TV Player this issue started appearing in, but they are fairly recent, and both started around the same time, if not the same time. If I had to estimate I would say “at some point in the last 1-2 months”.
watch state is linked with the GUID of the item. if you have the same thing in two libraries that were matched with the same agent, and therefore get the same GUID, then both media items will get the same watch status.
are you both manually managing the home screen rather than letting it popular hubs automatically?
that other topic seems to be about the Samsung home screen, not the app home screen.
As far as I’m aware I haven’t changed any setting that would cause the home screen to be managed manually, and I just verified this by going to Profile → Reset Home Customisation and selecting the libraries I want pinned and the behaviour persists.
OK, so I think this is just a case of my “automatic home screen” management setting not being persisted (or perhaps respected?) and sometimes reverting back to manually managed after I click around a bit.
Sadly have had to leave Early Access for the time being while this bug is unfixed - it’s just too disruptive to the overall home screen.
Since no one else has posted saying they’re having the same problem as me, I feel like this might be an isolated incident related to some (obscure?) setting I have checked somewhere or another.
Can you suggest further steps I can take to debug this on my own?
Just opted back in to Early Access to re-test this and I can confirm the issue with unpinned entries showing up on the home screen seems to be resolved.
However, I’m still experiencing the issue with duplicates from other libraries (where the same path is added to 2 separate libraries). I’m using the “Plex TV Series” scanner and “Plex TV Series (BETA)” agent for both libraries, so not sure if this is a bug with the indexing on the server side rather than an issue the the Samsung client?
