Samsung Smart Hub Plex integration duplicates?

Anyone else finding the Smart Hub integration on their Samsung TV is broken? Mine is just duplicating my Recently Added Movies list time after time and not updating, so after removing or adding content the suggestions do not change or update.

Signing out, reinstalling the app fixes it for a while but it breaks again soon after.

@sLumpy Thanks for the fix for this in 5.7.1. While it seems to be updating again now I’m still seeing ‘Recently Added Movies’ duplicated 12 times!

Not sure what you mean, do you mind taking a short video or snapshot of the problem? Can you also check the Home screen in the app and see if it’s also occurring there? The Smart Hub should basically mirror what your Home screen looks like (with some small adjustments).

The smart hub is showing the same Recently Added Movies section over and over again, 12 times in total. If I scroll all the way to the right I see recently added TV right at the end.

As per the image, it just shows the same thing over and over again.

EDIT: To be clear, previously it was ‘stuck’ showing the same content and now updating if something new was added, it is now showing the newer stuff, just doing it over and over.

Do you see the same hubs on your Home screen when you open the app? ie. Do you see Recently Added Movies repeated 12 times on your home screen?

No, it looks as it should via app.plex.tv/, 4.50.1. Both movie libraries separate although I notice it no longer shows the names I’ve given those libraries, it used to say ‘Recently Added Movies - Films’ and ‘Recently Added Movies - Kids Films’

Double clicking the tray icon loads Version 4.47.3 at http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html which looks like this, both movie libraries combined.

@sLumpy just FYI this has not been fixed as of the latest update. I now have 24 duplicated recently added hubs on the smart hub of my MU7000.
I do have the pointless ‘featured channels’ now though.

Seconded

  • Do you see the same issue on the home screen? It’s possible the smart hub hasn’t updated yet to match your home screen.
  • Check the version in-app, it could be cached. Under Settings → About it should be 5.8.1
  • If it’s still an issue, disable the smart hub via the Experience setting menu. Open the Smart Hub and make sure it’s gone. Then turn it back on.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app

Mine seems to update on it’s own. I’ll leave preview and come back to check.

Deleted app, cleared TV cache, unplugged TV for 5 min… reinstalled, issue still there.

  • Plex home screen is as it should be - no duplicates.
  • I am on 5.8.1.
  • Tried that, I have also just done a smart hub reset (pain in the ass having to redownload, and sign into everything) via the TV settings. I now only have 3 recently added movie sections on the smart hub. Better but still not fixed.
  • Tried that too, several times when the issue first reared its head. This isn’t my first rodeo.

I’ve found the issue, there should be a fix in the next release

Still not fixed as of the latest update from yesterday. Starting to get a little comical.

To be clear this is a direct result of the stupid Recently added changes. It was fine before that.

Again it all looks exactly as it should in the app and in PMS. I only have two film libs, one for us and on for the kids, so nothing over the top.

I notice that in PMS the library name is no longer mentioned in the header, it used to be

‘Recently Added Movies - Films’
‘Recently Added Movies - Kids Films’

now its

‘Recently Added Movies’
‘Recently Added Movies’

Which I’m sure doesn’t help.

It does display the lib name in the Samsung app though.

I’ll post a pic of what it looks like in a few I’m just giving it a minute to make sure the smart hub has updated fully…

Thanks, looks like it’s the same bug this was supposed to fix, but another code path that causes this bug. I’ll put up yet another fix

I take it you don’t mean 5.9.2?

I seem to have the same issue as you MessiahComp1ex. My recently added movies are showing up 2 times after each other and recently added TV series are also showing up 2 times in the Smart Hub.

I have a 2019 Samsung Tizen UHD TV for context, and the Plex Tizen app is at version 5.9.2.

From what I can tell, version 5.9.2 was the version that REALLY was gonna fix it, as version 5.8.1 didn’t fix it. You can check out the patch notes for the Plex Tizen versions here: Plex for Samsung (2016+ 4K/UHD televisions) - #21 by sLumpy

I haven’t tried to log out and uninstalling, then reinstalling the Plex Tizen app tho. Can’t be bothered at this time.

It’s still messed up here, I still see the same as my screenshot earlier.

That reminds me, I’ve also noticed something else recently… @sLumpy my continue watching shows up between the two Recently Added hubs, and if there’s only one entry it overlaps the text on the title at the top of the hub. Let me know if you want a picture if that didn’t make sense.
