Would be awesome to have a toggle on/off option for subtitles - my partner is deaf, and it’s a pain to keep having to manually enable them in PHT.
curious where you want the toggle to be. on a keyboard the S key turns them off/on the L key switches between them and off if you have more than one. I haven’t done it but you could probably map those to a harmony or other remote button to do that.
Please bear in mind that this is really about how to implement it appropriately in each of the (very) diverse clients.

I understand that may be a concern and but the OP mentioned Plex Home theater was the client he was speaking of. that's why i said was curious where he thought the toggle should be if not the ones already there which he may not have known about.
Through the media manager if files language tagged properly you can set it up so it turns on subtitles automatically in a particular language for whatever client is playing it ( i understand documentation is poor, somewhat old and hard to find if you don't know where to look).
Is there a toggle for the Roku client already?
FWIW, I've mapped the subtitle toggle on a Harmony for PHT. I use the colored teletext buttons to toggle screen resolution, subtitles and audio tracks.
The OSD for PHT 1.04, however, provides quick access to those functions so that I'm rethinking what I want to do with the teletext buttons ... (and I'm asking Santa for a new Harmony Touch, anyway :)).
I see where you guys are coming from, but it's a PITA to have to enable them for each episode or movie when I want them enabled all the time. It would make sense to have a 'sticky toggle' button in the options somewhere.

Is this the wrong place to mention that the setting Atrus shows above does not work if your server is logged in with one account, and the client is logged in with a different account?
Nevermind, just found it in another thread....
Early 2021 clean-up:
- implemented (account language preferences -> automatic selection, enable/disable via OSD)
- duplicate(set/change/override language for an entire show)
