Plex HTPC and CEC volume control

Hi, I am trying to get Plex HTPC to control my AVR’s volume via CEC. I have the Pulse-Eight USB CEC adapter and I see it being discovered by Plex HTPC in the log files. However, when I control the volume both in Plex (=/- buttons) or with my media keys, only the Plex or Windows volume change — the events do not get passed to my AVR.

Some things I’ve tried so far:

  • I was able to use the CEC tray app that comes with libcec to verify that it can send events to the AVR
  • I poked around the input mapping configs, but it looks like that is for CEC to control Plex, not for Plex to control CEC devices (is this right?)
  • I also poked around plex.ini but did not see anything CEC related
    • I saw a reference to a “[cec]” section in this thread, but could not find any further options or documentation

Any pointers would be really helpful!

I’ve experimented with different settings and haven’t been able to figure out if this is possible or not yet. My next step might be to see if there’s any way to map Windows volume events to the HDMI CEC adapter. If anyone has any ideas please let me know!
