Plex HTPC feedback

Anybody else experiencing screen glitching when moving around the app. Movies play fine. I saw the same thing on the Desktop app for one day, but an update was released and it resolved itself. I have a Nvidia RTX 2060 Super. Occurs in both 8 bit color at 60Hz and 12 bit color at 30Hz. Doesn’t matter if Windows 10 HDR is toggled on or off

Yeah, not the right time for shopping for VGA cards for sure!

Not noticed that no, although to be fair, I’ve not really used it a lot yet as the back button is still broken with my remote, so it kinda makes it really difficult to navigate around.

Is your remote a media center remote?

I had to reprogram mine to fix that stuff

No issues… but only using 1080p

I too am facing the screen glitching issue. Seems more like screen tearing. It’s been there on both v1 and v1.1. Good thing is it’s only on the plex interface and not while playing any video.

Nvidia 1060 6GB
Intel Core i7700
LG CX 65
8bit colour 30hz, 45Hz, 60Hz. I’ve tried all and issue persists irrespective of windows HDR turned on or off.

Yes, more like screen tearing. Mine looks like a black chain link fence that flashes for a second.

Why don’t you answer this question and request, please?

It’s a 2.4 Ghz wireless remote…

There is no way to reprogram it, however as there have been several users with various different remotes, Plex have acknowledged a problem and are working on it. Just wasn’t included in 1.1.0, so I’ll have to wait a little longer before I can enjoy this app.

I thought… at least on pmp, there was a json you could edit…

Heh, keep nagging then

In my case i have a media center remote and there is a utility to edit thr registry to adjust the buttons

i’m observing a sound issue:
HTPC runnung on a Intel NUC connected via Denon AVR to Samsung TV - 7.1 Audio:
In visibility mode maximised sound is working, in full screen mode NOT
(this happenes independent if exlusive audio is selected or not)

Will Plex HTPC get “auto resolution switching” to match content resolution?
So 1080p files will be played in 1080p on a 4K Tv and 2160p as 4K?

Plex HTPC for Mac users on 1.0.0 will automatically update to 1.1.1.

Can confirm automatic update working as expected on macOS 11.2.3. I end up with v1.1.0.2156-96d995e9 not 1.1.1. But maybe there is just a typo in the release notes @deactivated ?

Returning to HTPC after a while away with Android TV and haven’t seen it mentioned in other posts thus far so wondering if watching an in progress recordings from the start is supposed to possible in this new preview version of HTPC? I don’t get the choice to ‘watch from start’ when selecting an in progress recording within the guide and it tunes straight to live.

For those having back button issues, there are a few things which could be occurring:

  1. Your remote is sending a keycode/input that’s not mapped. In this case you will find what keycode/input HTPC is seeing in its logs. It does log all the input it sees even if it isn’t mapped to a command. You can remap inputs much like PMP. In the ( ~/Library/Application Support for Mac, %LOCALAPPDATA for Windows)/Plex HTPC/inputmaps dir, you’ll find a markdown document describing the process, the sets of inputs it accepts, and the commands which are recognized.
  2. The input doesn’t get recognized as any sort of input. This is one we’ve not tracked down mostly because we have no idea what the device is actually sending for back.

For (1), we’ve already mapped all the keys which remote devices send that we’ve been informed about. If yours is missing from the list, you can add it yourself with the keyboard mapping and tell us what the key is so we can add it to the list.

Hi @gbooker02 - I am one of those whose logs show no input from the back button, however I sent a log from PMP on my HTPC to @deactivated a few weeks ago which showed the back button presses that PMP recognized.

Has that log file been looked at yet and did it not give any clues?

I had a similar issue. Resolved it by unchecking video/enable refresh rate switching

This likely means you need to set a larger Refresh Rate Switching Delay (Video section of settings). A friend of mine was having similar difficulty until he set this.
Note: HTPC will only do a refresh rate switch when it is in full screen.

We’ll follow up on this.

Thanks @Ted_C. 1.1.0 required a manual update to work around an update bug we found in the 1.0.0 codebase. We should be auto updating forward. The blank screen + linking behavior is super weird and unexpected. Please let us know if you see this with the next update. Lastly, we addressed an issue that would prevent HTPC 1.0.0 from shutting down, do you still see us failing to exit in 1.1.0?
