The window handling code is all new as we wrenched it out of the clutches of Qt. There is a single parent window and several child windows to allow MPV to operate completely independently of Qt and its poor render timings. I expected there to be edge cases and this is clearly one. My guess would be that this is due to the different scaling between your two monitors.
It’s on the list already but wasn’t a blocker for this release given that this release should dramatically improve playback for users and the fact that this is a forum preview release still.
I expect you don’t have pulseaudio enabled. The feedback sounds currently only work with PA.
Already there. You need to have permission to be able to execute these via dbus for them to show up in the menu.
Is this consistent or do you have steps to reproduce? We’ve seen reports of this and reproducible steps would make it easier to investigate. We do have some changes coming to the Live TV guide very soon that might also help so please let us know if you’re still seeing the issue after that release.
I can barely play 1080P and 4K is a no go, when I look at CPU usage its not too bad but running intel_gpu_top I see the render pegged at 100% constantly and video around 30%.
Hi, the bug seems consistent and has something to do with using Enter or Backspace specifically as using escape instead of backspace doesn’t reproduce it for me. I’m attaching the log from that session. Plex HTPC.log (298.2 KB)
Here is a video recording of that session with a key input overlay: 2022-02-21 11-37-34.mp4 - Google Drive
At 00:01:19 timecode you can see the bug. Thank you in advance!
Looks like the script was missing the connection to the shutdown plug (I’ve added it now). So you need to execute sudo snap connect plex-htpc:shutdown and then it should see it.
Since you didn’t mention EGL I expect that you haven’t tried this environment variable. See Testing Linux EGL
Additionally make sure you don’t have the Video Playback Quality setting set to Maximum Quality. I know that this exceeds the capabilities of the UHD Graphics 630 (the next generation chip) in may circumstances.
I have made progress in narrowing down the issue with stuttering at 23.976hz.
It is something to do with the nVidia GPU, likely a driver bug at 23.976hz refresh rate. Hopefully not a hardware bug.
I switched over to using the I7 7700k IGPU and the stuttering is gone with perfectly smooth playback. I have tried multiple video files with the same success.
It seems to be a problem with HDMI as Display Port is unaffected when I tried it on my GSYNC monitor via the nVidia GPU
Do you or anyone have any insight as to why 23.976hz is bugged with nVidia? Or something that could be tried to alleviate the issue?
I have even tried turning off gsync, VRR etc and disconnecting all but the primary display without success.
i use the plex app from my webos lg cx model. it is not working good sometimes, but ok overall. one thing is bugging me for a long time is that i have 750 4k movies, a lot of them dolby vision, but not once saw the dv symbol on that tv. is it a much better picture?
i also could use plex htpc (never used it so far) with a steam controller or xbox elite on a pc near that tv. would that help with dv or overall?
also running on a pc there could be better, complex picture enhancements applied.can plex htpc do such things?
also i want to know if plex htpc is optimized for 720p 800p? (steam deck)
EAC3 5.1 backward compatibility to AC3 5.1 receivers is broken.
Windows 10, Plex HTPC v1.11.0.2867-a8b910ed
Via Coaxial (RCA) SPDIF connection to legacy Dolby Digital & DTS home theater receiver… I can successfully listen to DD 5.1 (AC3) and DTS 5.1. If I try to watch a movie with an EAC3 5.1 track (multiple movies) I get stereo sound. DTS-HD tracks play as legacy DTS just fine. No combination of EAC3 5.1 checkbox on/off produces 5.1 audio.
I can play the same EAC3 5.1 tracks in Plex Media Player and they produce 5.1 audio with similar settings.
You should also add the ability to sort/filter movies by resolution, audio track codec, and HDR yes/no
Is there a reason we can’t fast-forward to the very end of a video? That we always have to watch the last 5 seconds? Been this way since the beginning it seems.
I welcome the new merged TV Guide appearing on the big screen apps as well as the favourites for managing channels. All Your Live TV, All in One Place
Makes for a MUCH easier way to use live TV and clears up the interface so we don’t have a ‘Live TV & DVR’ and a ‘Plex Live TV’ hubs.
When can we expect to see this added to HTPC?
While you are there would be great to add the scheduled shows tab as seen on the ROKU app as well as being able to arrow down on a paused show to see cast and show info.
It’s to prevent you from inadvertently fast-forwarding to the end and thus terminating the playback of this item. Is there a reason why you don’t just stop playback here or skip to the next item?
It isn’t like that on all clients. Whatever the behavior is, it should be consistent.
I’d like the ability to change this behavior in the options.
The right arrow on my keyboard does the 30 second skip ahead and it is easy to hit it a few times instead of finding a mouse to get to the track skip button. If the track skip command has a keyboard shortcut, I don’t know what it is. And lastly, I do not know how Plex decides to mark a show as “watched” so I worry that if I track skip at the closing credits, the show might not be so marked.
As a general observation I like this behavior for movies, where sometimes you want to see what’s after the credits. It rarely seems useful for TV shows.
