Plex HTPC Flatpak audio passthrough not working

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314
Player Version#: 1.69.0.264

I’m currently using the Linux Flatpak for Plex HTPC on my Bazzite Linux install. My HTPC has an AMD RX 6600 video card hooked up by HDMI to an Onkyo receiver. While I was running windows, this worked without issue, but now that I’m using the Flatpak, I get PCM audio, no matter how I set it.

Currently I have my audio device set as “Alsa” (though I get identical behavior when I select the “Navi 21/23” audio device as well). In both cases I set the type to “HDMI” and check all of the proper boxes (EAC, TrueHD, Dolby, ETC) as all are supported. But when I try to play anything, it initially hangs - the video never starts playing. If I press the skip forward button it does begin playing; however, it simply plays the audio as PCM, (based on what my receiver is showing).

The oddest thing? If I use the “regular” Plex Flatpak, this doesn’t happen. With identical audio settings, it correctly passes the audio through to the Onkyo.

I’m not sure what might cause this, but if anyone has any suggestions for things to try, I’d love to hear it. I’d just use the regular Plex app, if it didn’t look so tiny on my 4k TV. Currently I’m booting it into a Steam Big Picture type interface based on the Steam Deck, with Plex added as a non-steam game - but it happens the same even if I boot into desktop mode and run it more normally.

You must have something set differently between these two because the playback engine is identical. They perform the same actions to select and use the audio devices.
