Hi, first time posting here, I use Plex HTPC on an old windows PC because it has a fantastic screen, but playing 4k content is too much for its old processor. The highest quality transcode option that appears is 720p when using HTPC but when accessing the Plex server in a regular browser window it does display the option to transcode to 1080p and works perfectly. Is this a bug in the HTPC app?
when the thing is playing in HTPC. look at the server dashboard Now Playing section and see if it shows as remote or indirect. 720p is a default for remote playback when remote access is not configured and playing remote
