Plex Music - Plex renaming album artist after manually changing

Server Version#: 1.32.2.7100

I’ve added a bunch of files by an artist that goes by the name of “Chaka Kenn” and Plex has decided that the artist is “Chaka Khan” despite my files having the correct ID3 tags and in a directory clearly named “Chaka Kenn” separate from my actual Chaka Khan albums.

I tried manually changing the artist name at the album level and the album artist at the track level in Plex to Chaka Kenn, but it still switches back to Chaka Khan.

Agent & Scanner are both set to Plex Music. “Prefer Local Metadata” has also been checked.

Most likely: an artist by that name is not known over at Musicbrainz Search Results - MusicBrainz

Also possible: a folder structure which doesn’t follow the one laid out in here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265296-adding-music-media-from-folders/
which can cause albums’ AlbumArtist to get overwritten by other albums’ artist if they share a common artist folder.

Folder structure is fine (see screenshot)

So if I have an artist in my library that isn’t well-known enough for Musicbrainz to have it in their database, I have to deal with Plex showing me incorrect metadata because it won’t recognize the information that is already in the file’s metadata and the folder structure or the information that i manually input??

Do you see how obnoxious that is?

Perform a Split operation on the Artist level.
