Plex is adding temp files as versions even though they've been deleted/renamed after unpacking

Server Version#:1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: AppleTV & Web Browser

Hi,
This started a week or so ago. Plex seems to scan as the upacking is happening and retains the file names of the temporary version and the final version. This results in 2 versions in Plex, the first of which seems to almost always be a non-existent file which prevents playback until I specifically choose the 2nd version. I have no idea how to fix this one.
Thanks

The most obvious approach would be to load/unzip those files in a staging folder outside your Plex library folder – then move the files to their “final destination” when they’re complete.

The more short-term fix should be manually re-scanning the library and emptying Plex’ trash after its done.

I had already tried manually scanning and dumping the trash but somehow the phantom versions seemed to persist. Looks like it’s fixed after I did a few things. I found a thumb drive that I’d inserted into my server had been somehow added as a library folder but the folder didn’t exist on the thumb drive and never had. I removed the drive and the entry for the folder in the Library setup. I’ve always had the library files scanned automatically when a change is detected and at 15min intervals. I added the partial scan option. I also changed the temporary work folder in NZBGet to a folder on the same drive as my destination folders called Incomplete. This made things work better during the unpacking phase because the library folders are on a HDD and it takes time to spin up but that seems to be negated if all of the downloading/unpacking occurs on that drive. I used to use SABNzb and always had the work folder on the same drive as the destination and it worked better that way. Thanks for the suggestions! I appreciate the help! Not sure which change fixed the problem but very glad it’s not a problem anymore!

Best,
SXBB
